It's weird for me anyway. No, I'm not pregnant.

Anyway, the problem is that I have issues with both eggs and casein, so eggs are out. This leaves me with vegan fare, and all the paleo stuff is inadequate in protein. I know some people are good with edamame, but I can't eat that more than maybe twice a week as I have a mild allergy to it too.

Yes, it sucks to be me. :D

I'm eating some meat, but nowhere near as much. So, what vegetables actually have the most protein? What nuts are highest in protein? I believe it's peanuts, but they aren't a nut!

Any clever ideas for a probably temporary meat aversion?

Fish or seafood? If you're really desperate there are protein shakes made from all kinds of protein, including vegetable protein. – UncleLongHair Mar 29 at 17:45

How long has this been going on? If it's short-lived, you won't need to worry so much about protein sources. Have you tried more fish or meats you don't usually eat? I know sometimes I get tired of meats I've always loved, possibly due to eating them so often. Good luck.

About a week - it's just really thrown me off. Nothing made of meat appeals for some reason. I usually like shrimp, but eat them rarely and I don't want them either. – Nicole Sep 23 at 13:46
I'm thinking it's likely to pass. Try looking at food blogs or FB paleo pages. Sometimes just the photography or playful descriptions can help. I have been in that position, and I know it's both scary and miserable. We've eliminated so much, and we have to eat something. – aseafish Sep 23 at 16:55
I have had aversions to meat after eating way too much of it for a week or two. Usually I just skip meat for a few days and eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables, and have yogurt and kombucha, and I return to normal in a few days. – UncleLongHair Mar 29 at 17:58

kale, brocoli, spinach... and i belive hemp seeds and quinoa are high in protein(both seeds) nuts arent very high in protein i hope this helps

Kale for example has protein, but 1 cup of kale has 33 calories and 2.2g of protein. A modest-protein diet with 2000 calories would have 75g of protein which is 34 cups of kale and more than half your daily calories. A high-protein diet would require 1.5-2.0x that. You'd spend your entire day chewing trying to get enough protein from that. – UncleLongHair Mar 29 at 17:47

I'd be very surprised if you're deficient in protein. Most folks, even vegan folks, aren't.

Yeah, but vegans eat grains and legumes and both contain some protein. Certainly enough for them to hit the RDA, which is quite low. On the days I don't eat meat, I'm am definitely under it. – Nicole Sep 23 at 13:45

What about fish? Sometimes I prefer a lighter fish as opposed to eating tons of red meat. Make it with a nice paleo pesto sauce with olive oil, garlic, basic, etc

Have you tried plainer, less, or differently seasoned meat? I find it easier to eat meat everyday if it's completely unseasoned. It feels more natural and is better tasting, to me at least. :)
