I have an autoimmune condition and a few weeks ago I was eating VLC, only meats, bones, organs, fish, and veggies. I was also not eating that many solid calories and most of my meals composed of bone broth. I wasn't losing fat in the places I wanted to and was feeling weak and tired all the time. (See my previous question in my history) I had 2 warts on my fingers from months and months ago that I could never seem to get rid of. All of a sudden, within a week, 8 more sprouted on my fingers and they grew very quickly :(

I decided to start eating more solid foods in general and cut back on the broth and add a handful of blueberries and a cup of sweet potatoes a day. But that never really happened as that weekend I kind of let loose as it was my friends 21st and drank and smoked weed heavily for 3 days straight. I did not get much sleep and started eating SAD...most of the time binging on carbs, sugar, and dairy. also eggs :(

As expected my immmune system failed me after that fateful last weekend and I got a cold on 4 days ago from which I am still recovering from. My eczema on my hands and feet got pretty bad and my acne flared up. I have a constantly bloated belly. Today is my first real true Paleo day. So I spent a week or so on SAD lifestyle.

The weird thing is, on the second or third night partying I realized that my warts had turn from flesh colored to a dried blood color. The little cauliflower spots on my warts seemed to be filled with dried blood and they looked kind of dead and hurt a little when I touched them. Then, 2 days ago, they straight up fell off themselves!! I had accidentally scratched at my biggest one and it just came off...so then I kind of just picked off my other ones, which came off easily. I was amazed...I had spent months putting meds on them and taping them at night and had just given up...and then they just fell off themselves??

What's going on? Warts are supposed to be the result of a poor immune system...so why, when my immune system was at its lowest, did my warts decide to fall off??

Sounds like you did what a friend of mine used to refer to as "poor man's chemo". If you abuse your body enough, any viruses or bacteria weaker than the host will give up and die. He never got colds or the flu as long as I knew him, and he drank and smoked way more than the rest of us. I doubt that sort of strategy works out well in the long run though. – Happy Now Sep 23 at 6:54

Interesting question.. This reminds me of when I lived in nyc. I used to get raging ear infections that lasted for weeks. I ate healthy and did yoga three times a week but the infections always raged on. One evening I went to Blockheads for Mexican food and drank two margaritas. The next morning my ear infection was completely gone. I know, how weird! A few months later, the same thing happened again. It seems crazy, but I really think the tequila benders killed my ear infections.

My husband has another theory; he thinks alcohol relaxes the brain and when you're able to relax and "let go" the body releases hormones that promote healing. If you're constantly stressing out about "be healthy be healthy be healthy, work out, work out, work out," you're holding on to a lot of cortisol.

I think HappyNow (above) is correct about the "poor man's chemo" I don't recommend the booze / pot smoking lifestyle either, but maybe having a "party" one night a month might not be too bad an idea. Or find other more positive ways to relax your brain and heal...

Party hardy if you want to get rid of your warts??
