I've been doing paleo for about three months now. I have celiac disease and I've been gluten free for four years. I've been feeling great on paleo.

When I consume gluten even in small amounts, I get brain fog, OCD, depression, and a myriad of other not fun symptoms. I have not had that problem very much since I went gluten free, and only get those symptoms if I slip.

I've been doing paleo for about three months now. But for the past week, something has been wrong. My sinuses have suddenly gotten congested; I get dizzy spells. I blamed it all on dehydration, but then I slept 17 hours yesterday. I went to bed at 2pm and got up at 7am the next day. I've been having an OCD episode for the first time in years. I've been nagging myself with something and I just can't let go of it to the point. I know I am not thinking normally.

I'm beginning to wonder if I got glutened. I can't think of anything I ate different other than some Grassfed beef from Trader Joe's that is supposedly gluten free. I haven't eaten much this week either. I ate maybe 6 eggs with two turkey patties, followed by some almond butter on celery later each day. What is my problem? Am I just sick or down with something?

You should google "gluten cross-reactive foods" and see if you are eating any of those that you can cut out. Also, if you eat anything that is processed on equipment or facilities with wheat but has no gluten ingredients you may have gotten a heavily gluten contaminated batch.

One thing that people don't consider but I know that has caused problems for my celiac-having boyfriend in the past is airborne gluten. Have you been in any bakeries or somewhere with potential airborne flour lately?

a) go to the naturopath and get tested for the other types of reactions (IgE,IgA,IgG) there are more than what the conventional doctors test for. I have a reaction to eggs and dairy. b) celiac is tied to other conditions such as the adrenals and thyriod issues, you may have slight adrenal fatigue or the start of thyroid issues. How are you sleeping? c) almond butter- get the sprouted almond butter instead. Unsprouted nuts cause inflamation in the gut.
note: I'm not a professional, unfortunately lots of personal experience.

That's interesting. I started to feel off once I started eating almond butter about 10 days ago. It gradually just got worse and worse. I haven't been eating enough meat lately either. I've become more vegan without realizing it. – RacerRex9727 Sep 22 at 22:20
