According to this article the time of day that you eat your fat and carbs makes a difference in the expression of "Metabolic Syndrome". Does anyone here time their meals like this? Does it make paleosense?
I don't really think it makes 'paleosense' to time/structure your meals artificially. In the good old days if you were hungry you would go kill/find something and cook/eat it then, not save it until an allotted time frame.
It is just because we have food at our disposal at all times nowadays we are able to think like that.
Not really. I do know that my metabolism is better in the evening so I eat more then ( aka Warrior Diet) and have my most carbs since my mitochondria is stoked. But FAT consumption is not tied into producing insulin as carbs and excessive protein are- so eat your lipids anytime. On the days that I do have a breakfast and definitely my first meal is usually a form of fat like an avocado. But bottom line for me I do not consume carbs as a rule- they are the problem. Eat Fat anytime.
also this: The age-old maxim "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper" is totally wrong in my case-as mention my metabolism is stoke in the evening not in the morning. What seems like a logical statement may not be correct for everyone. This old maxim believes you have MORE time to 'burn' those carbs and bigger meals. This doesn't work if you have metabolic issues and your fire isn't on then ( then it is stored as fat in fat cells and try to get them out later- you can't). Diabetics NEED to eat MORE Fat at anytime
I always eat high protein/fat at breakfast and have the most 'carby' meal in the evening, eating it moderately early with my children around 6.30 p.m. This just feels right to me, I need the most available energy in the morning when I am rushing around and the most slowly burning energy to see me through the night.
I am never starving hungry when I wake up, but I try to eat within an hour of waking and I sometimes will have a light snack before I sleep if I go to bed late, but this may just be a couple of nuts. I drink away from meals if I can.
This works for me.
I agree with pjnoir, like most everything with diet, it depends on your personal makeup and experiences. I tend to stop eating about 8 or 9 o'clock, because I find that I sleep better and digestive problems run on both sides of my family so it reduces any problems with reflux. In doing so I also found that I started losing weight. I also stopped waking up hungry. My meal sizes just depend on how hungry I am. If I can eat a big meal I do, no matter the time of day.

On the opposite time-scale, some people say that it is important to eat fat first in your meal, so that your body is triggered to use fat for fuel. I don't know if there is anything to that, but anecdotally, I eat only meat and fat, and if I eat the fattier portions first, until it no longer appeals, and then eat the lean, I tend to get a much more lasting feeling of satiety and energy than if I start with the lean.
