So I have hypothyroidism. On top of that, I think I have FODMAPS/SIBO. After starting naturethroid and paleo last winter, I lost weight and felt great. My doctor suggested I switch to synthroid. At the same time, I Was running a 10 mile road race, so I upped my carbs. I gained weight, my skin was terrible, digestion did not work, could not sleep, etc. I switched back to naturethroid but kept up with carbs and my stomach still was not great. I found there was sort of a venn diagram of foods I could eat that I could actually digest. Other foods I could digest, but would give me indigestion when eating, or give me heartburn. A month ago, I sort of stopped eating vegetables and fruit. I love both, so this isn't because I don't like them, but I really wanted to heal my stomach. Now I eat: grass fed beef, 8 ounces in morning. 2 tablespoons of coconut butter lunch is either roast beef, turkey burger, fish, with coconut butter, sunflower seed butter, or sunflower seeds. snack is sometimes chocolate with sunflower seed butter, or just sunflower seeds dinner is chicken or fish. Thoughts? am I getting enough nutrients? I know this isn't sustainable long-term but want my stomach to heal! Thank you!

The dark chocolate will definitely be worse for your stomach healing than will fruit. The sunflower seeds are also much worse than vegetables. – David Moss Oct 2 at 8:14
How do you know? That is, are there studies onchocolate? I'm willing to change but think I react worse to fruit and carbs! – Lizzie Oct 4 at 17:55

you may want to add bone broth to your daily diet and a few servings of organs each week.

What's with the preponderance of sunflower seeds and sunflower seed product? Doesn't sound easy on the GI tract to me.

I was thinking the same thing. Usually in a gut healing protocol you wouldn't start with so much nuts/seeds. – JayJay Oct 2 at 3:54
I don't know what else to eat! – Lizzie Oct 4 at 17:56

When I eat that low-carb, I get hypothyroid symptoms. What kind of carbs were you eating?
