At any moment this conversation is going to segue into the "floaters" vs. "sinkers" controversy. |

Pre-primal I was 5 or 6, sometimes 7 (IBS ftw). Now I am 4, very rarely 3. I used to go 4-8 times per day then, too. Hated it. Now I go once, rarely twice. SO nice not to have to spend my life on the toilet. |

Type 2 to Type 5. Firmer stools come from higher protein intake and use of bone broth. Softer stools come from vegetable consumption and use of magnesium citrate. |

Range 4 to 5 - But darkish green, as spinach and wild greens are a daily part of my diet :) |

depends on what I've been eating I suppose. Too many nuts and it's not good. |

I am type 7 and have been this way for a few weeks now. Could it be that i'm consuming too much fat? I usually wake up, have some coffee and heavy cream, then at lunch have a pound of grass-fed ground beef and later may have some eggs or more fat (butter, cream, coconut). Should I increase my fiber content, i have mixed feelings about that being that fiber may not be as beneficial as we think. I tend to follow Dr. Harris (PaNu) and try to eat 2-3 meals a day. What could I be doing wrong? I weigh 175 lbs and am 5'10, not much activity other than some push ups and pull ups ( my knee pops in and out and takes weeks to get back to functional level). |

Pre paleo i was all over the board and going 3 or 4 times a day. Now I'm #3 or 4, most days, sometimes I'll skip a day. |

I have a hunch that if your diet and therefore gut are right on track, your pooh will be odourless and you won't need any toilet paper, because it'll be well formed. If we knew what the natural state of pooh was, maybe we could use this as an objective measure of how appropriate our diet is. |

Since going VLC paleo, I'm type 1-2 consistently. Drinking plenty of water did not change this. |

Mine is usually around the 4 to 5 range these days, plus I go about twice daily. Before paleo, it was in the lower number range, but not 1, and I would only go about once per day. LMAO, what a conversation! Only on paleohacks could such a conversation be considered not only acceptable but also normal and educational! ;-) |

Im always 2,3, or 4 for sure. One big boy in the first 45 minutes of waking, then perhaps a smaller 4 or 5 a couple of hours later. Sometimes late afternoon an extra little 5. The big AM is the key though. sets you up for a killer day. I eat a big salad with dinner steaktype meat about one hour before bed. Get some fermented veg like raw kimchi in daily and thatll pretty much always keep you on the regular. |

I am almost always a Type 4. Once early in the morning and one in the afternoon. I've just noticed the change since going Paleo. I was usually a type 2/3 with more grains/beans. |

6 after breakfast, 4 later. When I started eating paleo / primal, it was between 6 and 7 but after adding back a little potato, much better. What a conversation for a Sunday morning!! |

Been on strict Paleo for ten months now (no dairy). I was probably a "3" before the diet/couple times a day-but now am pretty consistently a "4"/twice a day and sometimes "5". I got on here cause I was worried since I read that smaller stools can mean polyps, colon cancer, etc....and mine are def more narrow! But-thanks to all of you and this site (LOL!) I feel like it's the norm for paleo people! Thanks! |

I am generally 3-5, my schedule is about every other day. I do NOT miss types 6-7 back when I had IBS symptoms on my old diet - thanks Weight Watchers!! |

Questions like this make me think writers for Tosh.O might be signing on to punk the excessively earnest subgroup of this community. Or else maybe some really clever vegans who want to mock the depths of "paleo" narcissism. I threw up the one day last year. Thinking back, I keep thinking my carb content might have been too high. What's the ideal consistency of paleo vomit? I also have mucous, snot, and ear wax questions. Any experts? (Just so not one thinks I'm being intentionally "mean, marginalizing..." (or for god's sake) "negative," let me say I post this with high amusement, and actually, with appreciation everything that brings everybody here.) OK? |

3 to 4. Used to be 7, 6, and at best, 5, pre-Paleo. I go once a day, usually mid-day; or twice a day (mid-day and after dinner-time, I think?) if I've been gorging on food. |

It's usually type 4 for me. As I don't have a gall bladder, I need to take digestive enzymes. If I forget to, or don't take enough, I produce a type 2 the next day. |

I think that it should be green poop with all the leafy vegatables paleoers eat. |
