I lost 30lbs. As I was losing I could swear that I was gaining muscle, too. I could have simply been revealing it, however. I do feel stronger, more vital, more energetic, more durable, so I feel I can answer Yes to your question.
Yes. Definitely lost fat (around 16lbs, and I wasn't exactly overweight before) and gained lovely muscle definition.
One caveat: the above has been true everywhere but the stomach area so far--I still have a lil' layer that doesn't seem to want to shift. As I'm now slim and toned everywhere else, I figure that's how I'm supposed to be, give or take, and I'm happy with that. :)
