Well have any of you tried it for your skin? I have never in my life found something that was so amazing at keeping my face/skin/lips moisturized. If any of you don't know what lanolin is, it is basically sheep sebum lol. For those of you who have dry chapped skin/lips you should try it. One week I had a case of chapped lips from biting and peeling the skin, so I put lanolin on it and after a few hours it softened down and after a day it was healed 100%. Also from what I understand, European, and Asian women use it as an anti-wrinkle product. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!

Amen. I started with the smelly version (oops) and I still slather it on happily and just avoid lonely men in small farming communities. It works so, so much better than any salve or heavy lotion I've ever tried. Now I've got some of the anhydrous, unscented stuff, and that's what goes on my cracked lips. Love, love, love it. I wouldn't be without it in the winter.

ahahhaha!!! That made me laugh. Any brand recommendations? – BaconHealsChic Oct 12 at 15:34
My smelly stuff is NOW brand and I'd buy it again. I just don't apply it on nights I want to get frisky. The non-smelly stuff is Lasinoh, which is marketed towards nursing moms. – syrahna Oct 13 at 0:58

I have been using almond oil for eye makeup remover and shea butter for an eye cream at night. I'm going to try this I found with your lanolin suggestion... homemade eye cream.

Lanolin is the breastfeeding mother's secret weapon. Lanolin rocks

Isn't lanolin pig fat/oil? They use it to make bar soaps like Irish Spring and Dial.

"Lanolin, also called wool wax or wool grease, is a yellow waxy substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals. Most lanolin used by humans comes from domestic sheep" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanolin – daz Oct 12 at 21:23
i didn't downvote you btw (someone did) since yours was a question not a statement – daz Oct 13 at 5:06

Lanolin is awesome. It is also edible and safe since it is marketed for lady nipples during breastfeeding. I was lucky and never had to use any on my chest so I have a lot left over. I use it for lip gloss. Standard gloss is just terrible BTW. Check out the baby section of your local store and you can get some trial sizes pretty cheap.

Can I put it on my face

Yes, I use it on my face – Soul Oct 12 at 21:44
It's considered a bit comedogenic but so is coconut oil, and a zillion people here do fine with that. I put it on my lips - and nose during a cold. I don't notice any acne. – syrahna Oct 13 at 1:00

No. That really sounds rather gross. I don't mind eating animals, but the thought of smearing their skin secretions on my body is just not acceptable. And if it's smelly, that is even worse.

That's just a personal prejudice, though. If it works for you, I don't see anything wrong with it and it probably is really good for the skin.

You must shop vegan? – syrahna Oct 13 at 0:59
For some beauty products, yes. I don't mind honey in skincare things, but most animal products, including lanolin, aren't things I'm fond of using topically. – Varelse Oct 13 at 1:24
