HI,

This is going to sound like a silly question for sure. I have had digestive / gut problems for a while and read somewhere (Robb Wolf perhaps) that taking L-Glutamine powder was good to heal the gut.

My question is, isn't L-Glutamine and amine? like the amines in certain foods that some have problems with? I didn't want to start high doses of L-Glutamine only to find I create more problems with something else

Appreciate any opinions / advice

i have been taking l-glutamine for about 1 year and i honestly have seen no benefit from it. i am finishing up the bottle just because it's expensive but it hasn't helped my gut at all.

I've been on L-glutamine for a couple months at the advice of my doctor, and haven't noticed a difference either. I'm not sure it's the kind of thing one could notice a difference in unless you're get an endoscopy before and after. My doctor said to be on it for a year. But still, in the 2 months, no difference. – Sara S. Oct 18 at 17:22
How much dose have you been taking? 3-5g seems to be the standard dose but I know some who take a mega dose of that stuff. – Mambo May 3 at 3:39

I used FoodScience of Vermont's GI Benefits powder with L-glutamine (cheapest seems to be Amazon), other healing herbs and raspberry powder so it doesn't taste like ass. It really helped me recover and I still use it if I eat something that sets me back. You should also look into colostrum if you're not sure about how you might react to the l-glutamine. I had only heard it was good for supporting the immune system, turns out it helps heal the gut as well.
