The terms of service say otherwise but kids still get on here. As the title says.

When I was a teen there was no paleohacks, so I went on vegan forums and pro-Ana websites. What's your point? Unless we start linking accounts to Facebook or credit cards there's no way to truly monitor it. Lots of people on here have medical issues they wouldn't want publicly known so linking to Facebook/real name system wouldn't be feasible. Best you can hope is that people recognize disordered eating, close those questions, and hope people are being honest and the replies are thoughtful and kind. |

all the stuff in the world kids could be doing and you're worried about them learning about health and nutrition? is this a serious question? |

As soon as the 14 year old stops getting responses because he or she is 14, he or she will create a new account and suddenly be 21. What can you do? If you're concerned about what your 14 year old is exposed to on the internet then do something about it--at home. If you are proposing some sort of age verification for PH, I doubt you will get very far. Age verification and identity verification run hand in hand and its been made pretty clear that a large portion of PH members do not want their true identities exposed on the world wide web. With that said, I'd rather not see 14 year old children posting on PH. |

I think kids should be given the chance to formulate their own opinions and explore new options, even in their diets. If they have no one outside of this site to ask for nutritional information who else can they turn to? I'd much rather see a kid on PH trying to improve his diet than kids kept in the dark on the SAD. |

There is a lot of talk about poop on this site, but I think it is okay for a 14 year old to learn about poopy problems. |

Well, yes. I know this may seem biased as I am 14 (and the 14 year old that asked about ketosis, infact!) but, honestly. There's so much bad info out there that we can access instantly. This is a safe environment, as safe as it gets, compared to some of the stuff that is out there. Why shield us from good information? |

How do you stop them? It seems to me the best idea is to answer their questions as honestly and clearly as we can. Now, maybe after we answer the first question, we ask them to get their parents permission to be on here, but I am not sure if that is logistically possible, and obviously the parents are letting them surf the internet anyway, so they are already, in a sense, being permissive. |

Well, in their health/science classes in school, I assume they are being taught about "healthy whole grains," and the benefits of a low-fat hi carbohydrate SAD, so I would think PH might not be a bad counter-balance to that. Not sure I see the harm, but that's just me. |

Definitely think that for liability purposes that if a post is prefaced with "I'm X years old" where X makes them a minor, it needs to be closed. Of course, that does not stop them from violating the TOS and asking questions without their age, but it does remove some liability from PH. |

It's a parents responsibility to monitor where their child goes on the internet and whether not is appropriate for their family. If you don't think that it's appropriate for children to post then don't respond to them. I don't think that any discussion on paleohacks is worse than a pg-13 movie. That being said I think that the kids who post need to understand that this is an adult board and if they want to post they will be treated like adults. No "don't downvote me, I'm only 16!" stuff. |

Well from time to time there is some NC-17 rated stuff being discussed, so ... But I don't know how you would enforce an age limit in a way that wasn't a pain in the ass. |
