I use tomatoes in many of my dishes- I've read on a few places that tomatoes can be anti-inflammatory, is this true? Could too many tomatoes cause skin issues?
I haven't tested enough to really know if tomatoes were really the cause, but I seemed to have more joint pain and acne after a string of about 4 or 5 days when I ate a lot of tomatoes. Haven't really bothered to try again, because...well...I like not having knee pain or breakouts so I'm not really willing to chance it. Small amounts here and there don't seem to cause any outward symptoms for me, but I don't like tomatoes enough to incorporate them into meals very often.
tomatos and other nightshades can cause skin conditions / auto-immune responses... that's why robb wolf etc recommend doing a strict no-nightshade approach for these kinds of conditions
In addition to being a nightshade veggie, tomatoes also have a significant amount of omega-6 fatty acids, which can also promote inflammation. This is pronounced enough to have a significant impact on me, so I avoid tomatoes, although I love them.
