I have recently been ill and in bed for a while and now I am better, and able to look in the mirror again, I realise that I may have to cut my hair off or get dreds. Being in bed for so long has completely ruined the texture of my hair at the back, I cannot even get a comb through it.

Does anyone know any extreme frizz remedies that are also not too fiddly to do, I thought immediately of the application some kind of fat, but how to go about it?

Thanks.

Soak your hair in coconut oil for a few hours. It will be even better if you can wrap your hair in a plastic bag to keep in the moisture. Start combing from the BOTTOM of your hair, and gentle work through the tangles from the bottom to the top. You can do this! I've done it (was in bed for six weeks after a bad car accident) and it saved my long hair.

Another good fat to use is palm oil.

I agree with @Corinne- coconut oil can fix dreadlocks! – henny Dec 11 2010 at 13:23

My daughter ended up with an almost dredlock situtation in her extremely thick hair while we were in Hawaii. The combination of the salt water plus a convertible for days on end was amazing and horrifying. I honestly just soaked her entire head in a leave in conditioner (any conditioner would probably work) and put a shower cap on her for overnight. In the morning I was able to comb it out, but it took a few hours.
