I should say that I really don't eat a paleo diet, I'm new to paleo, and I'm really liking the changes I've made. It's been a long, slow transition which has worked great for me, but has left me with a diet in which I eat grains pretty much everyday, I just crave them a lot. I always want to eat toast saturated in butter, which makes me think that it's the butter that I'm really craving, but nothing I've tried seems to satisfy my cravings like butter on sprouted grain bread or one of my mom's unbelievably good scones. I've been trying to find more fast paleo snack options that I can put butter on; butter on celery just isn't that good.

So far the paleo things I like with butter are: eggs cooked vegetables chocolate (it's alright with butter:/)

If you want to stop craving grains you need to cut them out of your diet cold turkey for at least a few weeks (yes, the first few days will be hard - eat lots of meat and fat). Eating tons of butter and grains is a recipe for disaster. Good luck on your journey. – invisible ink Oct 22 at 22:12
Why is butter and grains a recipe for disaster? I thought is lowered the glycemic index. – Chema Nov 8 at 0:08

In addition to all the great answers above:

I make my own herb butters. Then I coat meat in the herb butter before I throw it on the grill. Especially Chicken and Steak!

I use butter in a lot of my sauces.

Putting a big dab of butter on top of cauliflower mash is fantastic!

Also, Making a zucchini hash for breakfast or Coconut Pancakes, and topping it with butter brings back memories of breakfast at Grandma's

Finally I make brown butter and then saute my berries in it before I add it to whipped cream for dessert.

I cook my eggs and sometimes fish in ghee and pour melted Kerrygold butter on oven-baked sweet potato fries. I suggest you try the latter because maybe the potatoes can help thwart your grain cravings.

Thanks I've been eating a lot of sweet potatoes and it's true! – Chema Nov 8 at 0:09

I make 'scones' with almond flour (ground almonds), an egg and baking powder. Very quick to make and delicious with butter.

One of the things that I miss is the taste of meat and butter in sandwiches, so I've recently taken to spreading butter (and horseradish sauce) on slices of cold roast beef.

Butter on any leftover beef is delicious...cold sliced steak w/ butter and a few slices of avocado is one of my favorite lunches. – Robin Oct 22 at 12:00
I like this too, especially with some garlic salt added. – scottts Oct 22 at 14:56

For my kids and myself I use butter in place of anytime I would use mayo. So I soften and whip up Kerrygold for canned salmon/tuna. I also love butter on smoked oysters. I used to love smoked oysters on CRACKERS with butter but well...you know.

My only use butter musts

Eggs - nothing replaces the flavour they add.

Onions - When I'm sweating onions or caramelizing, butter is the way to go...and honorable mention goes to Mushrooms cooked in a garlic butter, just little pieces of heaven in my mouth.

Popcorn - I add to much salt and butter...I take that back, the popcorn becomes a simple vehicle for the butter and salt, as nature intended.

Girlfriend - She eats to much omega 6 and sugar, adding butter to her is the only way to stay as Paleo as possible.

Those are mine!

Truth.

Potatoes, sweet potatoes etc (unless your low carb), green beans, brocolli. None of those are really fast though.

Its a good vehicle for liver (pate), but you cant much taste the butter, even though theres heaps.

Cold baked pork and avocado taste great with homemade unsalted butter. You may add a couple of parsley or basil leaves to them too.

Starches - to blunt the blood sugar spike. Oh and it tastes better that way, too.

Paleo Pancakes! 2 eggs, 1/4 cup almond flour, pinch coconut flour, pinch baking soda, lots of cinnamon, and whatever else you want to throw in there. I smother them in butter, this is my breakfast on weekends ^_^
