A few days ago, I was feeling sore in the ab area from a workout and when I felt it, it felt like I had small grains of rice under my skin. I felt the rest of my stomach and it feels the same everywhere. I don't remember having this before, it's definitely something new since starting crossfit/paleo about 7 weeks ago.

I highly doubt it is anything to worry about, since it feels like adipose tissue (yes, I know what it feels like) but I was wondering if anyone has experienced something like it?

I've dealt with the same thing a number of times. It's nothing to worry about and will resolve by itself. As tempting as it may be, try to refrain from poking/prodding/touching it. I've found that doing this only causes one to worry more about it and can lead to soreness, which causes one to worry even more about it.

Incidentally, I was reading a link on massaging adipose tissue and came across a link on cellulite. I think what you are going through might be related to the fibrous tissue can be massaged to reduce cellulite's appearance. link text

it's probably just that you are losing fat. One important question though, are they painful in any way?

Nope! Not painful at all, so I assume it's nothing to worry about. – Maria E Oct 24 at 17:11
probably not, if they get sensitive, you may want to see a doctor -- but as long as it's just weird feeling I assume it would be fat loss. – CD Oct 24 at 18:02

A similar thing happened to me into ketosis for a few weeks, and the fat on my stomach seemed extra squishy.

Are both things just from the fat exiting the cells too quickly for the cell to shrink down?
