I don't know if I just have a wide torso or if it's love handles, but I'm really frustrated with the width of my waist right now. I'm pretty short too (5'1"), so it makes me look even stockier. It might be my body type - I'm half Japanese and my mom says that Asians just don't have curves in general, but I don't want to believe that I'll never be able to lose this extra stuff and have a narrower torso. Or maybe it's my hormones - I just started getting my period again about a year and a half ago after having amenorrhea for 5-ish years (parasites). I used to be pretty thin, so it didn't bother me as much even though my body was boyish-looking, just straight up and down. I'm pretty athletic too, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I've noticed that going lower carb has been helping a little with the love handles and the bloated look of my belly, but it's been months (with the occasional carb fest) and nothing has really changed. So my question is this: should I just keep doing what I'm doing (LC/VLC), or does something need to change, or do I just have a masculine body type?

right with you, smeags. Half asian. Was very straight but wide, and not as curvy before. now I have curves/love handles. but i'm healthier. But I guess I would just ask you, "how do you feel? (On VLC/LC?)" and also congrats on getting your period back! does protein taste bland - a sign that you don't need more, and yet you're forcing more down? do you crave sweets? I might not look as "good" but period is regular, I can lift more, mental state is better... Focus on health first, THEN maybe weight loss. and health = sleep, eat well. if you can sleep well and eat well, i think you could probably lose weight. but don't be afraid to add in some carbs if VLC/LC isn't working for you. |
