Has anyone else noticed that nothing really compares to eating coconut oil when it comes to skin health, glow and much-reduced acne? I didn't have the same experience with butter, ghee, and animal fats. (Aren't they all saturated fats?)

All the fat sources are actually cocktails of different percentages and types of fats. For instance, ghee is about 65% saturated fat and 25% monounsaturated fat with about 5% PUFA. Its saturated fat is primarily short chain fatty acids and it contains 3% linoleic acid. Beef fat is beef fat is made up of about 50% saturated fatty acids (25% palmitic acid, 22% stearic acid and others), 40% monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid, the main fatty acid in olive oil), and the rest is PUFA (linoleic and linolenic). Chicken fat is about 70% unsaturated. Coconut oil, on the other hand, is about 92% saturated fat and is mostly medium chain fatty acids. Coconut is the most saturated by far plus has it's own unique ingredients. |

also, after years of copiously consuming coconut oil, i have this winter just finally started applying a bit of coconut oil to dry skin patches on my heels. Very good i'd say. Eat it and spread it around! (careful though, you only need a little little bit. also, itll stain clothes, bed sheets, etc.) |
