I've een on the paleo diet for about 4 months now and have had nothing but great results, i'm twenty years old, 145 lbs and about 8 - 9% body fat... and despite eating 5 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, sausage, and a banana for breakfast, I always get hungry about two and a half hours later. Is there something else I should be eating, or should I just increase the amount of food? I ride my bike to work every day and exercise on average 2.5 hours a day on top of that.
Thanks in advance!!
I've found in the past that both bananas and eggs actually spike my hunger, if I want to stay full I need a chunk of meat. Have you tried a quick pan fried steak for breakfast?
I would have to agree that the banana is probably the culprit. I used to have one in the AM, and then switched to berries, and finally realized, I will be hungry very shortly after my meal in the morning if it includes more than a couple of carbs/sugars (I get a couple from my heavy cream). Of course, everyone is different, but try cutting the banana and see how you do.
Keeping in mind that everyone is different, what works for me if I'm still hungry after a meal, is to eat a tablespoon of kerrygold butter. Gives more fat to satisfy me and tastes great! Hope this helps!
As everyond said here, try to remove the banana.
BUT... also add fat (butter) to your eggs. I usually add 1 tablespoon for each egg. So usually 4 eggs with 4 tablespoons of butter.
That's at 8/9am. Then I only feel hungry again at around 2/3pm.
I excercise a lot like you and also get hungry a couple hours after breakfast. I personally don't think cutting out carbs is the answer... Come on, it's fruit, not cookies. I eat a second breakfast every day and at 5'8 (female) I weigh 128 pounds which is a slender/healthy weight for me. I would eat as you are hungry instead of cutting plants from your diet and tricking your body into being full...
If you like coffee, try Bulletproof Coffee. I'm a recent convert, drinking it every morning so far this week, and love the stuff. About .5 L of coffee, 50-75 grams of unsalted butter and a couple tablespoons of coconut oil. Fills you right up and gives you great energy throughout the day. So maybe take out the banana and add in the bulletproof coffee? Could be worth a try.
