Just watched this video that Jimmy More tweeted

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PutaZQN8R34&feature=youtu.be

What do you guys think?

Did Weston A Price really die of heart disease at age 58?

According to Wikipedia, he was 78 when he died. – Robin Dec 19 at 18:41
Can't believe Jimmy is just driving more hits to this guy. Just goes to show Jimmy is all about the show. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Dec 19 at 21:08

What a retarded video. I'm sure it's just as easy (if not easier!) to find a bunch of miserable looking veg*ns and pit them against folks like Sisson, Wolf, and the host of other new young paleo authors.

A mental health comparison would be interesting as well. Adam Lanza apparently was a vegan (salon.com/2012/12/17/adam_lanza_was_a_vegan). Maybe n – Nasty Brutish and Short Dec 19 at 19:31

Dr Price was all about getting the maximum amount of nutrients from your diet... That's a good thing, especially for physical development of a child. His diet didn't exactly restrict foods with lots of sugar, grains, alcohol, vegetable oils and other causes of inflammation. He wasn't exactly sporting a six pack from the pictures I've seen...

So even though I believe in a lot of the things he had to say, I wouldn't be at all surprized if he died of a heart attack.

I also wouldn't give 2 cents for vegan nutritional advice nor do I give any credit to their propaganda.

Video FAIL.

They haven't seen Mark Sisson or Robb Wolf, have they?

The vegetarians I've met in my life have all been extremely depressed and seriously overweight.

I'll wager that there are people who look like shit on every diet.

Even if Vegan was healthier, propaganda like that does not put me in favor of the approach. Stuff like that should make me think the worst of Vegans, but I have already seen some videos by Durian and I don't think you can get worse than that.

What should a health expert look like?! I guess these guys should be the top health experts ever. alt textalt textalt textalt text

(they eat bread OMG and meat! and they are two hundred times better looking than anyone in that video)

Not like these skinny awkward fairly unattractive people who eat a restrictive dietalt textalt textalt text

I like men with a little gray hair, but sorry, these dudes look depleted.

The moral of the story: to look good, have good genes (sorry if you didn't get these) and don't rely on arbitrarily restrictive diets to make you look good (and Christian Bale is great example of how restrictive diets can make you look skinny and awkward, though thank goodness he's recovered). All these actors? Rely on trainers that make them count calories to prepare for roles. Yeah, a lot of them use high-protein lower carb diets, but they would be out of a job if they relied on them, because unlike in diet book land, you have to actually look like your roles, you can't play a weight loss guru while packing a spare tire.

I think cherry picking handsome actors and placing them against ordinary guys does not validate your argument. Why not show a picture of Nick Nolte or Mickey Rourke? In any event, I agree arbitrarily restrictive diets are not good in the long term. However there can be a healthy debate over what is arbitrary. A debate which does not include a beauty contest. – Lazza Dec 19 at 21:41

my point was to highlight the absurdity of playing beauty contest with the people in the video, when in reality none of them are that good looking and if we were picking diets based on looks we would pick neither diet. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Dec 19 at 21:42
Jesus... can we not be so looks-obsessed? Sometimes it's awesome to just, y'know, FEEL good. – the paleo elephant Dec 19 at 23:26
I thought the point of paleo was to look like the Flintstones. I can do that. – thhq Dec 21 at 3:06
Have you read "Deep Nutrition"? It is NOT about what they eat, it is about what their mothers ate while pregnant. That's how they got their good looks. And actually, they are not very good-looking according to biological concept of beauty. Plus their hair is turning gray. Nothing to be proud of. RDJ is a drug addict, for God sake. – VB Dec 21 at 3:33

1:52 He bashes the author of Wheat Belly. I don't care if you're vegan, vegetarian, south beach or atkins wheat is bad for you. This guy has good points in that low carb isn't necessarily going to facilitate perfect health for everyone but clearly doesn't have a grasp on what a proper diet is regardless. Also Weston Price died at 78..

Also, I watched that video twice; The tune is catchy.

I have changed my view on wheat. Yes, wheat is bad for you IF you do not prepare it the right way. If you sprout it and ferment it, it is okay (but still not great). – VB Dec 19 at 20:34

Fermented/sprouted wheat might be manageable for some, but I definitely do not think it's optimal for most. – Stephen Ross Dec 19 at 21:37

VB, that's like saying you changed your stance on consuming uranium... if you prepare it right by removing the most active isotopes, it's not as harmful to ingest. I'd rather avoid it altogether, thank you. – raydawg Dec 21 at 12:27

Basically, if you look at most vegan (and even Paleo and Weston Price people) from the video - they are ALL not healthy looking. Gray hair (indicating nutritional deficiencies), inflammation, malnourishment. You want to see healthy looking people?

Gray hair means nutritional deficiency? Not (likely) genetics? – Matt Dec 21 at 2:27
Yes - according to Daphne Miller. – VB Dec 21 at 3:30
I mean yes, it is true. – VB Dec 21 at 3:30

Anyone know off hand how many of those veggie authors were ever obese?

You can't trust anything from a vegan source whether it be The China Study book or a YouTube video. They have an agenda and that is to stop people from eating animals. Jimmy Moore's recent weight-loss scares them, which is why they're attacking him now.

Also, as Robin and Stephen pointed out, Weston Price died at the age of 78. Wolfgang Lutz died at 97 and Richard Berstein is alive and kicking as a type one diabetic at nearly 80, which is really something for a type I diabetic.

What we don't hear about though, are the causes of deaths of prominent vegans such as Andreas Moritz, who died "mysteriously" at the age of 58. What happend to him? No one will say. It's swept under the rug because it jeopardizes their cause. Animals are more important than humans. They'll sacrifice their lives AND YOURS for it.

OK I am confused. The healthiest people I have seen are Sardinians and South France people. I have lived in both areas. In those areas they eat a lot of veggie, a lot of fruit (Sardianians don't in the Winter months though) and very little meat BUT they eat red meat, pork etc. They don't eat meat regularly but when they do it's quite the spectacle. They also don't limit food. They have desert, wine etc. BUT everything is made from scratch including breads, sweets etc.

In both places I have never thought of diet or restricting my food. In Sardania I lost 17 pounds in 2 mths without even thinking about it. I walked a lot, ate tons of fruit, etc. SO what gives??? It can't be the carbs or the meat or the bread........ what it is that's making us fat in North America?

Did you mean "healthiest people" or "healthiest looking people"? – blackappy Dec 21 at 12:09

They probably have far less stress than us folks in the USA, probably far less pollution, a lot less exposure to crap-in-a-box food like products, eat more fish than n6 meats, likely no CAFO meats, and get lot of sunlight and fresh air. – raydawg Dec 21 at 12:33

Way to compare actors who have to look good and work towards that end, and people who could give a sh@t what they look like. Dishonest to say the least. How ugly are these vegans> http://features.peta.org/sexiest-vegetarian-2012/Winners.aspx

I don't know, but he should learn to pull his underpants up. No one want vegan skid marks on the sofa. – borofergie Jan 9 at 20:42
