it seems when i eat any raw vegetables, whatever the type, i get loose stools. even certain/most steamed vegetables will give me a lesser extent of loose stools.
if i go on a binge and eat lots of grains or legumes, i have well formed and bulky stools..
what is causing this?
Sounds like your body doesn't like raw veggies. So don't eat raw veggies. Eat what veggies you are comfortable with eating cooked, and make sure you include high-quality organ meat from healthy animals to keep your diet nutrient-dense.
Forget raw. Cook your veggies well.
Soluble fiber is very gut friendly: squash of any type, sweet potato, parsnips, carrots are all good sources. And they're nice this time of year with some cinnamon and sage too :)
Chris Kresser describes insoluble fiber as scratching a wound with a wire brush. Yikes. Go easy on spinach, cabbage, broccoli, leafy greens. Don't cut them out, but don't eat them every day either.
