Hey!

about 10 years ago i used to party hard and do a lot of ecstacy and smoke a lot of hash. Needless to say i let a lot of crap enter my system.

how much of this toxic stuff would have been store in my fat?

And am i using this fat for energy? if so, no wonder detox feels like a freakin' hangover.

All the best

Im also interested in this. I've heard ex-smokers release toxins from that when losing weight, women on birth control have those drugs released with fat loss and messes with all that, any prescrip drugs as well.. – Doug Jan 17 at 19:28
the other day i felt really high...and thought that it was just the positive effects of eating healthy...actually ecstacy like, but it only lasted one day...i happened to be the day that i started mct oil. Can't help wonder if that kickstarted my fatmetabolism and released something that made me feel that way... – Bjorn Jan 17 at 20:03

I doubt that you store enough of those recreational drug to feel any effect. Used recreational drugs in my late teens and early twenties, and even though I have changed the fat in storage many times since and have not felt flash backs. I think that you would have to do a lot of a certain drug to store enough to cause a high, from it's release, and release would be quite slow even if you were starving. An alternative explanation could be that the MCT oil kick started your ketone production, and you weren't used to burning them with full efficiency yet. The resulting levels of ketones in your blood would then be responsible for the sensations you had!

Fat cells store fat and trace fat soluble substances. They are not storehouses of the drugs we have taken.

I don't think those things are toxic... esp compared to the real toxic crap-- like trans fats and metals. Maybe those do affect one as the fat is burned.

Edited to add, if you are feeling that rough, then yeah I think something is wrong but I don't think it is simply detoxing from stored toxins. There must be some other factor at play.

You don't think Ecstasy is toxic? – MathGirl72 Jan 17 at 19:12
Nope, not at all. Alcohol on the other hand... – Rea Jan 17 at 19:55

Taking drugs is not a light decision, but the issue is whether it is physically toxic or not and released from fat. MDMA isn't. As for the Hash-- THC is known to be fat soluble, but it's not toxic. – Rea Jan 17 at 20:02
