What are your resolutions for next year?

For me, it's just these three--

1) Reduce extraneous spending in order to buy better meat;

2) Stop ranting so much about food and live by example;

3) Buy (and use) some weights.

For me it's to cut out all the foods that make me "lose control" and binge- like fruit, nuts, dark chocolate, pork rinds...

It's gonna suck. But I have to do it until I repair my satiety switch.

I actually find eating just a small handful of fried pork rinds to suppress hunger for a few hours. – TheOriginalKaz Jan 1 2011 at 1:56
That sounds great, but I usually can't just eat a handful... – Goose Jan 1 2011 at 16:02
Yeah, this is my big problem. – ScottMGS Jan 16 2011 at 6:52

  1. Eat lunch out less/bring lunch more (it's a big thing at my small, intimate company, but I know it's stalled my progress and my budget).
  2. Improve my sleep hygiene, primarily get that room dark. Possibly invest in a BioBrite.
  3. Join CrossFit once I feel it is budgetarily appropriate.
  4. Take the dog for a 5+ mile walk once every weekend.
  5. Get my next tattoo that I've had planned forever.

Not really "resolutions" per se, but a to-do list.

I have not heard of "BioBrite." I've been using a sleep mask because my blinds just don't cut it. – wjones3044 Dec 30 2010 at 17:38
I'm hoping to make some balckout curtains to use instead of our woefully inadequate blinds. I have a hard time getting up in the dark so I've been thinking about a simulated dawn alarm clock like a BioBrite. See: paleohacks.com/questions/2484/… – gone2croatan Dec 30 2010 at 19:14

Play more. Ultimate, Volleyball etc.

Enhance my Exercise to less Gym and more Natural Outdoor Movement(MovNat).

Test BBS system to see if I can put on another 20lbs of muscle in record time without losing my abs.

Yes, Body by science. – Stephen-Aegis Dec 31 2010 at 3:16
LOL! I'm old. My first thought was why testing a Bulletin Board System would add muscle. – ScottMGS Jan 16 2011 at 6:53

1) keep doing what im doing, but try to do it better to stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible, and revel in all the little accomplishments and milestones along the way.

2) spend more time playing with my kids.

3) go to bed earlier, and wake up earlier.

  1. Do a whole 30 in Jan - no dairy, no nightshades - and see if that helps my joint pain.
  2. Remember to take vit D3 and magnesium supplements.
  3. Get the hang of Esther Gokhale's posture programme.
  4. Do a Primal Blueprint body weight workout twice a week - trying to strengthen my core.
  5. Get out on some more longer walks.
  6. Have fun!
  7. Go to a weekend rock festival and still be able to move at the end of it!!

NO BEER or any alcohol of any kind. It was a waste of time and money and times are tight. I would rather spend money on food! I'm refocusing my entire life on reaching my longterm goals.

I actually started this after christmas, so the PLAN is in action. – Aaron Curl Dec 30 2010 at 19:23

  • Meet smaller goals. I'm going to see some old friends in the beginning of May, which at 4 months is enough time for significant changes, but not so long that I'd lose motivation. After this goal, I'll set another.

  • Be the face of Paleo. Without preaching, I want folks' jaws to drop when they see me after every few weeks or months. (Then, if they go out of their way to ask, I'll describe the changes made.) In the words of Elvis: "A Little Less Conversation".

  • Speaking of "A Little Less Conversation"...less time talking about the paleo way of eating online...more time getting much needed sleep!

Stay Paleo.

It's easy and I don't need anything more.

Dairy free for at least a month... not looking forward to it though. coconut is just not the same.

That's not a bad idea. I toyed with giving up dairy for about a week, substituting coconut milk for cream in my coffee - and you're right, it's just not the same. However I've been drinking my decaf black lately to have more of a fast than I used to, so I've really been getting used to black coffee - I think I might be better able to do that at some point. – Casey Dec 30 2010 at 16:57

My weight loss so far has been primarily due to diet, so in 2011 I'll be stepping up the exercise with resistance training.

I also need to cut back on coffee. Paleo or not, I drink way too much.

Likewise here, I lost about 40 lbs based on diet alone, and I want to make sure I make the best of it by actually building strength and endurance. – rook Dec 30 2010 at 20:57
Make the exercise count, make sure you train fasted – Stephen-Aegis Dec 31 2010 at 3:18
