Hello!

I'm writing in the hopes that someone can direct me to a resource.

I know I need to eat Paleo with modifications for those with autoimmune issues, but am having a difficult time finding recipes.

So many recipes have eggs, or other things that I need to avoid, based on all the Paleo reading I've done.

Does anyone know of a recipe source that is tailored toward those who want to eat Paleo with autoimmune modifications?

Thank you! Christina

I can give you the recipe blogs I look through, though I'm not sure what all your restrictions are. So I'm sorry if some of these aren't what you're looking for :X

Mark's Daily Apple

Life's a Plate

Food Renegade - More mainstream, has some dairy and grain recipes

EveryDayPaleo

CavegirlEats

@Sigil, I re-formatted your list--seems to work now – Ed Jan 1 2011 at 19:27

The first two links use a lot of dairy and eggs, and the last two include bacon and poaching eggs in plastic wrap (eww, chemicals) and she doesn't have many recipes, so I'd really consider some other sources. Here is a good article at a useful forum which might be a good place to go after reading: rawpaleoforum.com/infonews-items/hashimoto's-thyroiditis-and-a-meat-and-fat-diet/ It's about hashimoto's but much of the info applies to any autoimmune disorder. – Rock_Paper_Shirley Jan 2 2011 at 20:43

I think that the easiest possible way to handle this would be to study vegan recipes. Try making the ones that sound good to you (omit any soy/processed ingredients) and add fat/meat to each dish. It will require some trial and error for sure - but who knows, maybe YOU'LL have the first recipe blog covering the subject. There are some pretty fantastic vegan recipes out there that are simply CRYING out for bacon. ;)

Elana's Pantry blog has lots of recipes that do not use eggs, dairy, gluten, etc. Also, try searching for SCD diet blogs which specialize in eliminating any autoimmune aggravating foods.

Thank you so much, Laurie!!

I had not heard of SCD, and Elena's Pantry is full of lots of goodies and other good links.

Hey...I also found a lady who is starting to eat paleo with autoimmune modifications and is blogging about it. She's taking part in a study as well. I'm looking forward to reading her future blog posts.

www.memorable-meals.blogspot.com

Her December 13, 2010 post discusses some sites she suggests for recipes and talks about her modifications to the paleo diet.

you may find that even standard paleo eating helps your autoimmune symptoms a lot. this has been the case for my wife. further improvement is clearly possible but she's already feeling notably better than she had been just a few months back.

Also try NomNomPaleo.tumblr.com and Primal-Palate.com. Here's to feeling good!
