This person is in the bay area and may be able to help.

I don't know him personally in any way.

That's who I was going to recommend- I know him- he is legit. – Diane at Balanced Bites Jan 4 2011 at 18:41

Dr. Lorenzato at Mariner Medical Center in Foster City actually recommended the paleo diet to me a couple years ago. He talked to me like I was an intelligent human and answered my questions. He'll run bloodwork, too. Highly recommended.

Wow, I wish I knew. That's where I go too, but I was given another doctor as my main physician, and she's been difficult with stuff (for example, she didn't know what reverse T3 was, and she wouldn't test for that when I asked). Now that you mention this name instead, that's the doctor I will be seeing from now on. – Eugenia Aug 27 at 7:45

What kind of doctor? I know a naturopath in Berkeley who can possibly help with some things- do you need blood work, etc.?

who is it? i'm in berkeley & dealing with loads of undiagnosed metabolic issues. i have an appointment booked at clearcenter in mill valley on jan 12th, hopefully extensive blood tests will hold an answer. – dsohei Jan 3 2011 at 6:36
I'm looking for someone I could use as a primary care physician. – Yehuda Katz Jan 3 2011 at 17:22
well, i think you can use dr. maeger in clearcenter as your primary care physician. at least, that's basically what i'm going to do. – dsohei Jan 3 2011 at 20:58

This group of family practice physicians are great - they do not accept insurance, but will provide a superbill for you: http://www.wholefamilymd.org/index.php. All of them are great and are trained in traditional, osteopathic, and other alternative methods.

I go to Dr. Swan at http://www.wholefamilymd.org/index.php and I really like her. I believe she is a pretty non-judgmental vegetarian herself. This guy http://www.wholefamilymd.org/index.php Thomas Cowan is a big wig in the Weston A Price scene and I've heard good things about him.

Check out Dr. Paul Abramson at My Doctor Medical Group: http://mydoctorsf.com. He's Paleo-friendly and has even presented data from his own personal Paleo experiments at a Quantified Self meetup.
