I bought some Thursday Plantation chewing sticks, and among the ingredients I've found canola oil (which I'm not too happy about already) and TTO. I'm wondering, is TTO safe at the levels I'd orally ingest from daily chewing-stick use?
I've heard that TTO is an endocrine disruptor. A friend of mine was using TTO shampoo on herself and her son who was about 6 y.o. at the time. Her own hormones were out of whack and her son grew a breast bud. After an internet search that yielded info about TTO as an endocrine disruptor she stopped using the shampoo. The breast bud went away and her hormones stabled. I love the smell and feel of TTO but avoid it at all costs now.
I use the same chewing sticks, never had any issues. I also use tee tree oil-infused products for literally everything: from cleaning supplies, to shower gel, to toothpaste. Never had a problem. My skin feels great. I do not know, however, if ingesting a shot of pure TTO is good for you.
Found this, which seems to cast some pretty serious doubt on the gynaecomastia study.
