After reading a recent thread on paleohacks, I got to wondering what Mark Sisson's requirement of 50-100g carbs for effortless weight loss stems from. Since he states that 0-50g is the level at which the dieter would be in ketosis, how is getting 50-100g of carbs different from more?
Thanks for your help!
Cause you don't need to be in ketosis to lose weight, but limiting carbs still helps with appetite suppression and improved metabolic health. As does making certain your getting enough protein. Really I eat in the 50-100g range most the time. It takes a real effort for me to get more carbs in.
You may wanna read the Primal Blueprint if you really wanna know why Mark Sisson recommends things.
On here your going to get a range of theories....from "its all bunk don't worry about carbs!" to "ketosis is the only way to live"! I think the PB rec's are pretty easy to work with and will do the job for the vast majority.
Disclaimer - When I say vast majority I'm talking about the 60+% of Americans (that we know of) suffering from metabolic syndrome and sitting on their sedentary back sides. Specific athletic endeavors require specific tailoring.
