I am new to Paleo (only a week now) but I can say that I already have more energy, I'm not starving before meal time anymore, and the pains that have been bothering my knee and foot are much less making it easier to get some exercise. There is so much information on this way of eating (ratios, omegas ets.) that it gets confusing so I thought I would see if my food choices are good. My goal is weight loss. I quit smoking but in turn picked up another horrifying habit, fast food. I was eating fast food twice a day and put on 40 lbs. I was lethargic, getting migraines, and my body just plain hurt so it was time to make a change.
Anyway, diet below. Btw, I limit my fruit to berries and I'm staying away from nuts right now:
Breafast: Two scrambled eggs w/ sauteed spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms. One organic turkey pattie all cooked in coconut oil
Lunch: 2-3 slices of low sodium nitrite free turkey w/ whole avocado, cucumber, and romaine lettuce. 3-4 sweet peppers and 2 medium sized carrots
Snack: Handful of blueberries and a hand full of blackberries
Dinner: Chicken breast with some form of sauteed (cooked in coconut oil)/broiled/grilled/roasted veggies (i.e. brussel sprouts, okra, eggplant, brocolli)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Am I getting enough fat with the coconut oil and avocado? I do mix up dinner with small pork tenderloins, and I plan on putting some red meat in there as well.
It sounds like it is working, I would not try to mix things up in any major way. If/When it stops working maybe.
I guess I would have a few tweaks you may want to consider:
@CD's answer is spot on.
I wanted to add - what's with all the fowl? Stop that! Birds are a fantastic "every so often" food. Stick with meat from ruminants (beef, lamb, goat, etc) and fish in quantity. Don't not eat birds, but for every meal of the day? Definitely sub optimal.
