Has anyone tried cutting out fruit completely? I'm trying to clear my skin up and am completely paleo (no grains, no dairy, no legumes) but still consume fruit.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I've actually seen dairy mentioned as the acne culprit more often than fruit. It certainly won't hurt to cut out fruit for a month, then re-introduce and see if there is a difference. |

I have been experimenting with cutting out fruit. I've only been doing it since the New Year, but already I've noticed that a scalp condition I have suffered from for awhile has cleared up, almost completely. I've also noticed that I have no desire to snack anymore--I'm perfectly satiated by my three meals, whereas before I would snack on fruit 1-2 times a day. |

Just wanted to let you know that cutting out fruit seems to be the answer. I've really limited it, skipping fruit most days and if I do have fruit, will only have one piece followed by some protein or good fats. I think this is finally the answer for me! Will keep you posted and THANK YOU for all the feedback, much appreciated! |

I have also read that polyunsaturated oils, (PUFAs), can be the culprit in skin troubles. I have read posts on other forums of people increasing saturated fats and eliminating PUFAs, to find their skin troubles cleared up. Fruit is full of sugar, and it is possible that your body would prefer less. Dr. Kurt Harris' "Get Started" guidelines might be of interest: http://www.paleonu.com/get-started/ I, too, have heard that dairy products can be problematic. I don't eat fruits in the winter, except the juice of a lemon now and then, or olives. In the summer I add cucumbers and a few berries. Dr. Richard Bernstein's book, The Diabetes Solution, explains how different foods cause the blood sugar to rise too high, or too quickly. It's a fascinating read, and a great diet, even for those who are not diabetic. Here is a link to read part of it online: http://www.diabetes-book.com/readit.shtml Hope this helps some. I wish you all the best. :) |

i cut out fruit completely more than six months ago. I never really found any i enjoyed anyway. i still get occasional zits. I am totally dairy-free too. It sucks but after 31 years im kind of resigned to the occasional white head. Although i too have read tons about dairy, PUFA, fruit, etc all being the culprit in their own ways, in my self experiments it seems that i get acute zits after eating chocolate a few days in a row. I think its prolly the sugar in the chocolate but who knows. Far from conclusive testing:) |

Don't eat lots of carbs in the form of fruit or starchy vegetables. No fruit juice and no dried fruit. |

Try a supplement that contains zinc + selenium. I tried cutting out various foods (dairy, etc) but what helped the most and cleared up my skin in no time was a supplement called Zinplex. It's a South African product - but you should be able to find something similar at a pharmacy / health store. You only take one a day and it's completely natural. |

Why would you cut out fruit completely? You know, paleo comes from the food that hunter-gatherers had, what do you think they "gathered"? Fruits and vegetables, that is what they gathered! Unless you had diabetes (and even so, not always) it does not make sense to lose the enormous amounts of nutrients that you find in fruits. |

My skin was mostly clear before (with conventional high-fat dairy) but after cutting out fruit, it GLOWS. Enough said. |
