I believe I may have a case of low stomach acid, as I have a hard time digesting protein based foods, and have developed allergies to most of them.
A solution I see being proposed, is drinking some lemon juice before eating a meal to aid in protein digestion. Currently, I am eating a fruit & vegetable based diet, so I my question is, would drinking lemon juice before a big veggie/salad meal be beneficial for digestion or not?
My concern is that if the small amounts protein in the veggies dont get properly digested than I may eventually become allergic to them as well. On the other hand, I see some people talking about how eating acid together with veggies can impair the digestive enzymes from the mouth.
My question is, is it beneficial to have some acidic food (lemon juice) together with veggies? And if yes, when should it be taken, before, after or during the meal?
