I know there is a wide array of beliefs where supplements are concerned and some say they are not necessary if you eat right. I take vitamin D and some omega-3 almost daily. I was just wondering how common supplementation is, and which supplements are most commonly used. What do you use?
I too take the VitD. I also take HMP Science's glutathione, called Ultrathione. Been taking it since February '03. DeVany's old mailing list turned me onto it, and I love the stuff. Its a giant boost to the immune system.
But its not really necessary, especially if you're under 40. That is about the age when bodily production begins to decline. That decline is sharper for males. And you can preserve your own body's production for more important purposes if you live, well, in a more paleo fashion. Cigarettes, alcohol, fried foods, soda, and acetaminophen all take big chunks of glutathione.
College level athletes would benefit too.
2000iu Vit D3 (2x daily), high EPA/DHA fish oil (2x daily), vitamin C 1000mg 2x daily. That's it. I'd dropped the D3 for a few weeks but felt generally run down/pooped so I started it up again. Probably don't need that much Vit C... but I have this huge barrel of it from Costco that never seems to get any more empty.
Also: this kelp/cayenne seasoning that is high in iodide, or iodine, I forget which.

Magnesium, Selenium, Zinc, and Iodine are vital -- I get from Thorne trace minerals, different mag salts (NOW, Calm, ZMA, etc I rotate them) and IOSAL liquid 12 drops per week.
I take Green Pastures fermented cod liver oil/high vitamin butter oil combination pills in the morning. Also take six Dr Ron's Organ Delight since I usually don't eat much organ meat. Before bed I take three Now ZMA but I'm waiting for my Natural Calm to arrive in the mail. Have never had it but I gotta say after listening to Wolf's podcasts and his repeated mentioning I figured I'd give it a whirl.
I take Vitamin d-3 on days when I don't get to spend time outside :( and in the winters if I'm living in the North.
I use kelp as a seasoning instead of salt- at least a teaspoon a day, for iodine.
I tried taking magnesium, but it upset my stomach.
