I need to lose a lot of weight is eating fruit bad or how mush is ok to eat and still lose weight I have given up all the bad junk food ice cream cookies candy chocolate
I eat a ton of fruit, several pieces everyday, and I still lost about thirty pounds over the course of a few months. A lot of people will tell you how horrible fruit is and that it will prevent you from losing weight, but in my experience fruit is a great snack that prevents me from binge eating on far worse foods.
In order to lose weight (burn fat) your metabolism needs to be regulated in such a way as to burn some stored fat deposits every day.
In order to burn fat, firstly it must be released from your fat storage sites (i.e. adipose tissue) and then it must be oxidised for conversion to energy.
If, for example, the fat is released from storage but not oxidised it will be stored again - usually in the midsection.
Fruit, in overweight people, can be a big problem because they think its OK to eat it throughout the day especially when they're hungry. The problem that causes is in keeping metabolism in a fat storage state as well as stimulating the appetite further, which fructose causes.
So, the take home message is, for those who are overweight and are aiming to burn fat, consider fruit as part of your carb intake and particularly as your treat intake. Its a healthy treat but still a treat.
I think it depends on the individual, honestly. Just reading a few years' worth of anecdotal evidence on this forum alone, some people do stall out their weight loss with any amount of fruit. I'm one of these, and am working this year (after five years paleo) to cut out all sugars. The sweetest thing I eat right now are onions. Sugar does not love me -- aside the weight issue, my energy is better and more even, my skin clearer, my sleep better, my appetite and eating habits are far more sane.
As with all things related to diet and metabolism, your mileage WILL vary.
I'm seriously surprised that the "fruit makes you fat or stops you from losing weight" is still being perpetuated in the year 2013.
Look how fat you become living on fruit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qSwvst92nQ Not particularly healthy looking but overweight is the last thing you could call her.
Paleo is a long-term thing (hopefully). So try including fruit. After a few months, try without. See which works better for you. For me, I've found I binge on nuts and dark chocolate, and when I binge on them it adversely affects my weight, so I have to keep away from those even if they are paleo. It's not the same for me for fruit, so no problem. If I had five pieces per day, the scale and the waistline would tell me quickly enough whether that was good or bad or indifferent. I guess it depends if you're eating the fruit instead of other things, or in addition. There certainly is an argument for not going too high carb and for including some vegetables and starch in the diet, so too much fruit probably isn't optimal ...
It's how much fruit you eat that depends. It is completely possible to lose weight while eating fruit, it can be a good snack and for satisfying sweet cravings. Really fruit is no where near the worst thing you could eat while losing weight, just work out what works for you.
Depends on how much you eat. I would say post workout would be the best times to consume fruits. Personally, a few months ago I have been incorporating a banana / apple / berries into my post workout meals as opposed to other times.
