So I've been paleo only 6 weeks. I cut all grains back in Oct 09, however. I had a cupcake today and I've been hitting the bathroom regularly. Is there any "antidote" for sugar and grain "poisoning"? sorry if this is TMI, but that's what you're here for, right?

There's nothing like a good intermittent fast to sort you out after eating something bad. Allows the body to get to work repairing whatever damage is caused, upregulates autophagy, allows any hunger to reset and stops you binging. |

Drinking plain kombucha after a sugar binge always helps me. I drink a bottle of ORIGINAL GT's Kombucha (or kombucha that I've made myself). The nature of kombucha is that it is a fermented tea that is imbibed for medicinal purposes. How does it ferment? The SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) eats the sugar! So if we put kombucha into a gut overloaded with sugar, perhaps the scoby bits in the kombucha help digest the sweetness! Honestly, I have no biological research or reason to suggest this; except for experience. It really does help me. |

Ah, the ol' "I ate it.... NOW what do I do" conundrum! We've all been there, BinChi! I feel your pain! Honestly, the only thing that will cure you is long, dry, time. Sigh. You have to wait it out. You may want to drink a bit more water in the meantime, as grains are dehydrating. And make sure your next meal is a meat and fat extravaganza to help your body recover! Don't feel bad! We all have been in your shoes! Cupcakes are the Devil's work! Good luck!! |

I have heard that vinegar hastens the exit of gluten from your body BUT I think that is unlikely and/or untrue.... |

Have you made any other changes to your diet recently? It's possible to have some bowel disruption if you significantly increase your dosage of Fish oil - as some people are apt to do. |

After the occasional but somewhat unavoidable night out drinking I find a nice full 24 fast is the best way to go. Maybe a little fat and protein at the end if appetite comes back. |
