I can't buy an expensive filter right now... and I don't want fluoride or any other chemicals in my water. Does distilled water really deplete the body of minerals? Do we really get that many minerals from regular water? What is the healthiest water I can buy (by the gallon) at the supermarket? By the way I live in Atlanta, Ga right next to a Publix grocery store.

Edit: I need an answer quick! I am going to the store sooooon haha

Do hesitate. learn to differ thing. Different types of destilled water. Maybe u not use the destilled water for ironing your cloth. Their are mashines for destilling drinking water. This is good. your body is your body. So i may occur that you find samething new or strange after drinking it.

There is no clear answer. Raw Food People focus much on energies of water.

Search for Daniel Vitalis, and his spring, find a spring site. The healthist water you can find. is spring water. Go with ure car. I havent got a car. Im not a American. Im from Germany. If you have a car a time and money for petrol. You should arrange that you hav time. Just find a spring around you.!!!

Get some old gallon of glass. In Europe maybe with a lot liter. So you have water for free, come out. Do some workout by carring water. Learn something on water. And you get good water. Spring water local is mostly the best.

Google Daniel Vitalis and Water.

That was interesting to read :P – Flavio M. Jan 19 2011 at 18:44
This is something I forget about. There is a tapped community spring where I live -- just bring containers and fill up. – Jodi Jan 19 2011 at 19:08

Wow, Flavio, thats good to know! I knew that drinking it wasnt good for you as it it brings nothing to the table, but takes a lot away, some that you need. I however did not know, or even think about the acidity standpoint. As someone that struggles with gout, I have to keep my acidity in check whenever possible.

Distilled water won't hurt you however there is no need for it. You will miss out on the small amount of minerals that are normally contained in water. These can make up a small contribution to your calcium and magnesium intake if your water is hard.

Distilled water is all around us, it is called rain. Does anyone think drinking clean rain water would be bad for you?* The small amount of carbon dioxide disolved in distilled water is also found in rain and rainwater is also slightly acidic. This will not acidify your body.

If you don't like your tap water you could just by a filter, these do not cost very much. Also many places now sell bottled water that is filtered from your local tap water. This is usually cheaper than bottled springwater that has been shipped across the country. I expect your supermarket sells many different brands of bottled water.

It is better to spend money on your good food than expensive water or expensive water filters.

*I realise that rainwater can be polluted.

I'd personally be more worried about the bpa and estrogenic compounds in plastic bottles. I buy mineral water bottled in glass.

wow... thought eating organic and healthy couldn't get any more expensive. Now I have to buy glass bottled water. AHHHHHHH. Why can't we outlaw all of these stupid chemicals....!?!?!?! – Bronson Jan 20 2011 at 2:46
You don't have to. I just haven't gotten a filter yet so this is what I'm doing in the meantime. – mari Jan 20 2011 at 17:45

You could supplement minerals with Concentrace, which is probably not a bad idea for anyone considering how depleted our food-growing soil is in the U.S.

More scaremongering nonsense from Mercola. – Matt Jan 19 2011 at 22:06
I dunno man, it actually makes a lot of sense... – Flavio M. Jan 19 2011 at 22:38

Honestly it is hard to find any sentence in that article that is not either misinterpretation of just incorrect. Thinking you have to drink distilled water to be healthy is incorrect but thinking it will kill you is just daft. The author uses two of their own books as references :S – Matt Jan 19 2011 at 23:09
yeah... can't believe anything these days. All I know is I can't trust what ever the "big guys" say. – Bronson Jan 20 2011 at 2:44

I believe that distilled water is healthy for you and you should consider drinking it on the basis alone that the toxic, Sodium Fluoride isn't in it. Avoid tap water at all costs, unless you know for sure that Fluoride isn't being added to it.

This article blows the lip off of many untrue myths about Distilled water.
