I found a recipe for avacado brownies on another site using raw honey, but your site mentions not heating the honey. These brownies are not raw, they're baked. Would this be problematic? My daughter has PCOS and is really biting the bullet at giving up many foods she loves. On occasion I'm trying to prepare treats that would not destroy her efforts and that are actually healthy.
I also use Coconut Secret (brand name) syrup, which is supposedly very low fructose and GI. Is it Paleo?

I only eat raw honey and would not bake with it.
I just made some date paste.
I also like coconut palm sugar/nectar.
A good simple, healthy treat:
Caveman Cake/Crepe 1 egg 1 ripe banana or Japanese Sweet Potato blend, bake or fry pancakes in coconut oil
Pam - Honey is a perfectly fine sweetener for the occasional baked goods. As long as it is being consumed as a treat, and not as a daily thing.
Raw honey is far superior in quality and taste to pasteurized honey. Yes, when you bake it you will destroy some of the beneficial parts like enzymes, but it is still a better quality honey.
In the future, you may want to look into date paste for baked goods. You basically soak dates in water for a few hours, drain, and blend in food processor. It creates a thicker sweetener and is easier to use in baked goods where honey might be too watery.
As for Coconut Secret, are you using the Nectar? That one might be borderline. I personally would consider it not paleo, mainly because it is a highly processed food. Is it better than some things? Sure. If it's an occasional treat, and you are generally a healthy person, then it's fine. If you find you are using it daily, have any health concerns, or are just starting out on paleo, I would probably put it away for a while. Stick with raw honey when you need a little sweetness.
