I live in an apartment, so I'm looking for something easy to install and uninstall when it's time to move. What would you recommend?

Our space is limited, so I would prefer something that won't take up a bunch of room. I usually use a tree in the park across the street from me, or bars at a park along my sprinting-walking-running route. However, when it's 0 degrees F with colder wind chills, pullups/chinups aren't so pleasant outdoors!

Thank you to everyone who has responded! Now I have to decide which one I want. Right now I'm leaning toward either the one from Iron Gym or the portable one Jake suggested. – Chickenosaurus Rex Jan 28 2011 at 16:17
I decided to get the one Jake suggests. I love Iron Gym's bar, but our apartment has no moldings in any of the door frames. – Chickenosaurus Rex Jan 30 2011 at 18:12

In the pricy but worth it category, I have this one:

As the "Dip Bar" all in one, I have to say that the bit extra was totally worth it.

Check out the Jungle Gym from Lifeline USA. It's a suspension trainer that will allow you to do pullups, dips, rows, suspended pushups, and tons more, and it's completely portable. I love mine.

I use this one: http://www.amazon.com/this-one/dp/B001ND04U4

Lots of grip options, fits in most doors.

Yep, Iron gym is legit. – Todd Jan 26 2011 at 20:02
I use the same. – Chris Jan 26 2011 at 23:47
Was also cheaper than the official P90X chinup bar ;-) – Casey Jan 27 2011 at 1:39

I have the Iron Gym that Kent Cowgill listed, but I find I can't really do full-extension pull-ups that well with it mounted in a doorframe, which is a bummer. Fortunately though sadly, many years ago, whoever was living in my house mutilated some trees and installed a nice, tall pull-up bar between them. It's nice to work out outside. My neighbors think we're crazy.

I know, but for some reason that messes with my core stability. Don't know why. – gone2croatan Jan 27 2011 at 14:38

I use a homemade one and it is perfect. Only about 15 bucks too

What materials did you use? – Chickenosaurus Rex Jan 27 2011 at 20:18

I've made a variation on this - simpler than it looks.

i've had this one for about one year and it works perfectly, though it has dipped a wee bit in the middle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EJMS6K/ref=wms_ohs_product

its great, no tools needed, no holes in the wall, etc. Absolutely perfect for an apartment. Cheap as you can get, too.

I have one similar to this, my only gripe was that my walls were too narrows so I had to add a (hand towel) spacer for the bar to be level and stable. The grips are also painful, I got gloves but even that's not enough, it's pretty bad foam, I'm going to pick up some sort of rubber tape or wrap to make it more comfortable. – thisiswilson Nov 15 at 21:58
