apple shaped female: carries all weight in upper body- stomach/chest... thin arms and somewhat muscular legs. This is a body type I have seen elsewhere. Are there any thoughts specifically regarding paleo for this body type? macro ratio? Activity? Best health?? As much as I yearn for being a hourglass figure.. I simply am not. Help?
*aims for lower carb and I get TONS of slow moderate exercise per day. I do not drive and go to school in the city while living in a rural area. I walk a few miles per day.
The only info I can find online is the sad version of how to deal. I would like to know what the paleo opinion is.

What works for me is fairly low carb (50-100 grams) moderately-high fat, and moderate protein. Also, I need to not weigh myself more than once a month. The stress of weigh days prevent my fat loss, imo.
I do a lot of walking ('stalking prey' for 5.2 miles a day for four days, 'gathering' around acart at the mall for three days a week. Will be building in sprints at some point, but I haven't yet.

Android types have an anabolic metabolism, which means that they tend to be body- building and will gain weight in the upper part of their body so that they may become apple-shaped. Most of their weight gain occurs on the front of the abdomen. They build muscle mass easily and make good athletes.
Which tells me that I should be doing more body weight exercises than I actually am and could probably do well with weights. But, on the other hand, I'm lazy and have life to get to. What I do make sure to do, however, is follow 'traditional' paleo guidelines of less carbs, more protein, adequate fat. I feel my best with that.
I've been losing weight for almost a year now, with the majority of my loss happening during a primal eating style. I started at 255lbs (5'7"). Waist: 45", Hips 54". As of this morning my waist was 31" and hips were 40.5", so I've kept basically the same ratios. I predict I'm about 164lbs now, but my weigh in day isn't until next Sunday, so I'm not sure exactly what I weigh.
My best suggestion is to keep your stress levels as low as possible. That is the #1 reason why I retain weight, even with low carb and calorie restriction. And you know the source of my stress? Me. I do it to myself, and my guess is that most people do.

I have narrow hips and tend to gain all my weight around my stomach, back, and arms ( can you say batwings). The times that I've been close to overweight, I tend to look roly poly and middle aged ( which i am but i just dont want to look that way). When I went on the Paleo diet, I lost 3-4 inches off my waist, lost a lot of back fat, and arms became nicely toned, but not much off the chest so I look kinda like a teenager or a young twenty something, or so people tell me. The thing I like best is that my cellulite is gone and I can wear those short shorts. What I'm saying is that Paleo should work well for the apple shaped types like us.
I am also apple shaped. My mother and grandmother have very large chest and waist with relatively thin arms, hips and legs. My measurements before starting Paleo and Crossfit were: Chest (measured below breasts, bra strap level) 36 Waist: 36 (sucking it in!) Hips: 37 Arms: 11 Thighs: 21 Now after almost a year of Crossfit and 6 months of Paleo and 2 whole 30s: Chest: 30.75 Waist: 31 Hips 36 Arms: 11 Thighs: 20 Ive lost 5" in both my Chest and Waist, so with my bust and hips measuring slightly more, I have reversed my apple shape! Weight has gone from 154.6 on 28 June 2012, to 133.8 on 7 May 2013.
I carry my weight in my tummy too. Like 2thDrManda, I started Paleo, did 2 Whole30s and the weight just melted off of me. If you want quick results I definitely recommend the Whole30.
