I recently attended a one day MovNat foundation with Erwan LeCorre. I loved it and would like to do a whole holiday like it. Erwan offers week long courses but they're about £2000.

Taking initiative, what would be a great place to holiday and live like an animal? Somewhere largely unpopulated, perhaps? Warm? Lots of challenging terrain and water and animals?

Does anyone know of something like this or have any ideas? I think i'd love to spend a week living and training like an animal, maybe even with some other likeminded peoples. I guess the idea is to escape civilisation and get back in touch with your survival instinct and natural sense of play.

Not sure anyone will reply to this - it's a bit random. Feel free if you get any good ideas or thoughts though.

We just go camping - nothing more paleo than catching your food and nothing else to do but exist!

I don't know where you live or what your budget is. Here are some ideas:

New Zealand! huge, untamed, beautiful and diverse plus no dangerous wildlife except sharks.

a few others:

  • New Guinea
  • Galapagos Islands
  • Fiji
  • Beliz
  • the Spanish Riviera
  • Southern Greece
  • Cape Lookout National Seashore, North Carolina (wild untamed barrier islands, warm water and sunny days spring-fall)
  • Everglades, Florida
  • any island country in the South Pacific
  • Kauai, Hawaii

Well I view this as a two part answer for me.

    1. I would love to go to a place that has sporadic pockets of locals. My brother went on Safari for 2 months in Africa and I've never bee more jealous in my life. I'm lucky enough to be going to the Virgin Islands next month for a few weeks. I plan on doing a good deal of spear fishing for my meals. New Zealand, Australia are both high on my MUST-do list.

    2. Basic camping / hunting trips even if they are just for the weekend. Nothing makes me happier than being out in nature. Couple that with testing my survival mettle, and I am complete.

I've always wanted to roam around Argentina...and I've heard they know a thing or two about meat.

We canoe in the boundary waters between Canada and the Us. Minnesota has outfitters for the canoes. Your food, a canteen, a tent, map and a compass.Use your own energy to propel the canoe.
