I've been eating a Primal diet for the past 3 years. On my longer stretches without any cheats, I find that my doodoos are not that solid, more like kind of soft and greasy. I'm guessing that it's from the high fat content of my diet. I'm usually pretty close to ketosis if not in it.
And then, after a disgusting cheat day where I eat sickening loads of crap my doodoo is immaculate! Like, the best ever.
Anyone else experience this?
I'm guessing two things happened:
More food will simply make your stool have more "body" in general. More food, and more stool, will signal to your body that poop is going to happen, making the hole thing pass through easier. (Unless your someone that has developed bad habits like "holding it" for too long.)
More soluble fiber and resistant starch (and less insoluble fiber) can make your stool a solid, happy type 3 or 4 on the Bristol stool chart. A lot of junk food can contain somewhat good ingredients alongside the junk, offer some good things like fiber and starch.
I just heard Diane Sanfillipo comment on this, so I'll pass along her thoughts. Greasy, loose stools can mean that your gall bladder isn't functioning well enough to break up the fats you eat into tiny droplets that your cells can use or that you're not producing enough lipase to digest the fats. Have you tried a digestive enzyme with meals for 1–2 weeks?
