Okay I guess I have a random question. Just joined this site and I know how people can get on the internet so sorry in advance if this is the wrong place :)
What are some good weight training exercises I can do where I dont have to worry so much about form and hurting myself?
I did crossfit before but I know with the squats with weights and all those technical movements with heavy weights can be dangerous if you arent doing them perfect. I am deploying next week for 6 months and really plan on getting in really good shape but I won't have access to a trainer or any classes over there.
So any advice on weight training thats safe?
If you ask a lot of people (chump gym instructors included), they will recommend that you do a thorough workout using resistance machines with perhaps a tiny session with free weights tacked on to the end of the session. They will inform you that this is both beneficial for you and totally safe.
Whatever you do, DO NOT listen to these people!
If you start reading into weightlifting, aerobic fitness and general exercise online you will quickly see that bodyweight movements and freeweight exercises are by far and away the most beneficial things you can do for your body with regards to physical activity.

Although it may seem daunting at first I can't stress enough that, in the long run, doing a little research into freeweight techniques will benefit you a lot more than doing endless sets on the machines. I would also add that doing anything with incorrect form or technique can be dangerous.
Your best bet for this would be finding a buddy who has some experience of this and asking them for some help. Alternatively, here are some resources that might help you:
tl;dr Machine weights are the devil. Do a little research and reap the benefits of free/body weight exercies.
