I eat about from 1200 to 1,300 calories a day. I'm a runner, 122 lbs, 19, and 5 foot 7. I have been constipated lately, but then again, not really eating much.
I have no desire to eat protien...but I do have a bit of fish every day. I don't really have an appetite as much.
I don't really get hungry except in the morning. How am I not starving? Don't I need more? OR is my body just use to not eating much?
I eat a lot of coconut, tuna, sardines, soaked legumes, paleo carrot souffle muffins
I really wanna eat my brown rice pasta, but I'm afraid of becoming low in magnesium and zinc.
Flax seed meal caused me to break out. I had about 20 tablespoons or more in the course of days in my flax pancakes.
I don't really know what to eat. I mean even if I eat salad all day, I stay full. I could eat one meal and stay full all day. What is going on?
Orthorexia. Red flags "I want to eat brown rice pasta, but I'm AFRAID of becoming low in magnesium and zinc", also adding so much flax seed to your food ... why?
Why are you afraid of eating? You are young, active, and probably a little underweight - to me, this is a mental issue, not a physical one.
I think you not being hungry is a stress / anxiety reaction to food that you are afraid of eating. If you eat a diet of whole, unprocessed (or minimally processed) foods along with healthy fats you will be FINE.
Fear of food and making a mistake with your "diet" can take you down a long, dark path. Please lighten up on yourself - relax. Have your brown rice pasta, if that is what you want. Treat yourself - eat something delicious! Don't get trapped on the rollercoaster of disordered eating, because then you will have a REAL problem on your hands.
dude your running constantly, I'm sure your over training. Take a month off of training and see if your appetite returns, it won't affect your run times and you may even get faster times when you're done. See how it goes and report back
How do you feel otherwise? Any out of ordinary symptoms? When I came down with adrenal fatigue I could hardly eat a bite. Just want to make sure you don't have something else going on causing the lack of appetite.
Spam? If not...eat more. Eat protein. Eat fat. Eat carbs. You are active and need fuel...food = fuel...eat.
Nothing wrong with 1 meal/day, just make sure it's a LARGE meal with all of your needed nutrients.
I'm worried that you've restricted your diet so much that you've possibly crossed over that line where your brain chemistry is on the verge of anorexia, and your body has simply stopped asking for food. It sounds like you are in the grey area where you could reverse it before it gets its hooks in you, but you are going to have to make a point of sitting down and eating 3 square meals a day whether you feel like it or not. Please, please take this seriously, your future ability to have children, and the future of your bones depend on you eating enough good food when you are young. With your age and activity level that needs to be at least twice what you are currently eating.
Some of what you eat might exacerbate your acne, but you are going to have to suck it up and put your long term health ahead of vanity if you want to stay healthy. That is what makeup is for. At 19 hormonal acne is still perfectly normal, if you look around at your class mates you are likely in good company. The flax probably made you break out because it is high in PUFA. Even nearing 40 if I have a lot of vegetable oil, or even plant based omega 3 foods like flax, about 6 hours later I break out.
If your acne is a result of leaky gut, you can start working on that right now, by making sure you get enough gelatin in your diet either through broth or supplemental gelatin. There's always room for jello, right? I make jello jigglers with coconut milk. Here is a recipe http://blog.naturalbirthandbabycare.com/coconut-milk-jiggler-recipe/
There are people who eat brown rice pasta every day, and it takes months to years for their minerals to get run down, so having a serving here and there isn't going to harm you at all. If you are worried about your mineral supply go for white rice pasta.
If you try this for a few months and are still struggling please see a professional counselor because with the combination of fear and not eating/not being hungry it does sound like you are on the slippery slope to a full blown eating disorder.
Can I direct you here: http://perfecthealthdiet.com/2013/02/what-causes-acne-an-overview/ http://paleohacks.com/questions/159841/for-all-acne-sufferers-what-ive-learned-in-a-year-of-fighting-and-studying-acne#ixzz2W6hwNvDn
and from the 1st link, important for you:
•Gut problems increase systemic inflammation and deplete antioxidant reserves leading to more acne. •Stress triggers the release of neurotransmitters (such as substance P) that can increase inflammation in the skin leading to more acne . •Diet can induce or relieve inflammation leading to more or less acne. Diet also affects insulin levels. •Supplementing with zinc or other nutrients can provide antioxidants which lessen acne . •Candida and other pathogens in the skin cause local inflammation which can induce acne.
If you're not giving your body what it needs (vitamins, minerals, calories to match your activity), you're gonna pay sooner or later, with acne or something else.
I feel for you. If you keep doing what you're doing - running a lot, eating the way you're eating, etc. - and expecting different results, you're probably not gonna see a change.
People with acne often have gut problems, so I recommend you start making bone broth from beef bones and drinking that with every meal. It helps your body absorb vitamins and mineral from what you eat.
Also check out the perfect health diet! It really helped me. but it's gonna take time, so be patient and love yourself. i'm sure you look great - you're 19. you are probably your biggest critic.
Your best bet, stop creating this snacks and palofied foods for a little while. How many cabrs are you getting? An intense runner needs carbs and I mean sweet potatoes and fruit! Secondly, if dairy causes you acne, try goat. I have had terrible skin and it was fine. Also you need meat and eggs and fish (a steak, a pork chop, some sole or cod).Get some pastured bacon fry it up and indulge. Real food, not little snacks. Most people eat like little birds and their metabolism and digestive system shuts down, trust me. Even if you have to force yourself to eat more at the beginning it will put your digestive juices back in play.Dump the flax (No doubt that this is huge inflammation/ acne causer). I have had the same thing, especially when I started from veganism and raw fruitarianism.Dump the salad and eat some real food. This is really a mental game and that affects everything in your body. Low fat does no one any favours and neither does low calorie! Best of luck xx
