Pastured eggs (hard boiled), nuts, fruits and bananas for me. When the nuts are in the form of a bar (admittedly, held together with some sugar) I spread some grass fed butter or coconut oil on top. I also drink a mint tea, which awakens you without the caffeine. Occasionally I will eat a sardine can, and if there is some left, parsnip soup or squash soup from the night before with olive oil. Finally, parmesan (expensive) is made with raw milk from hay and silage fed cows. I eat chunks. Once a month there might be potatoes soaked from the juices of a roasted chicken, but everyone loves that and they don't last.
I started doing the mint tea because I have lots of mint in the garden, but then I figured out that it was the right thing to do.
Always eggs! I have been working on a breakfast muffin recipe that is great if you don't have time to cook. It is a muffin that consists of egg, breakfast sausage or bacon pieces, almond flour and any veggies you want to add: spinach, broccoli, onion, etc....
If you are eating dairy, cheese would be amazing of course.
This covers all your bases - proteins, greens and fats...
You could also do a pancake flavored one with a little maple syrup in the batter and breakfast sausage.... Not really my style but many people like maple syrup on their sausage.
Hope this helps!
First, black coffee (no milk or sugar), then I go with 3 hard boiled eggs plus 3-4 large handfuls of spinach cooked in coconut oil and lemon juice plus a few spoons of sauerkraut (good for the digestive enzymes) plus a bunch of almonds or an avo. For me the ritual makes it easy to plan as well as time things in the morning when I'm rushed.
Here is what I eat:
1.) I start with some ground meat (usually pork). Flavor it with spices of choice. Ginger sage is good.
2.) I shred, or cut into small thin pieces sweet potato yam, or plantain and make a hash of them in the frying pan with some kind of fat (butter, ghee, lard, duck fat, palm oil, coconut oil) and spices of choice. I may throw some pieces of avocado in there or some other type of veggie too.
3.) I put some meat and hash on my plate, and then place 3 over easy pastured eggs on top, pop the yolks so they drain over the hash, mix, and eat :-)
4.) I make a few days worth of the hash and meat ahead of time so it is quicker most mornings to make.
5.) I also put some sauerkraut on it sometimes
6.) If I have some, I will also have 1/2-1 cup of heated bone broth
If you have diabetes or you are obese, then protein is perfect for breakfast - like meat, fish, organ meats and bone broth.
If you don't need to lose any weight - Paleo approved carbs like sweet potatoes, Paleo granola (it has no granola, just dried nuts and fruit). Or whatever you like.
I usually have kefir smoothies with gelatin and fruit. I change the fruit all the time. Lately its raspberries from my garden. Some days, i have meat and veggies or a can of tuna mashed with avocado. Just depends what i want. I would eat eggs if i could eat eggs.
