I'm not trying to lose weight, so I'm not asking if this would slow progress or not I'm asking about optimum health if you get what I mean. Tonight I'm having dinner with my family like I usually do, but most of the time it works out great because they like to eat fatty cuts of steak even though THEY think it's unhealthy(while i just thank The Lord it works out so perfectly), and they usually have a salad with it. But tonight my grandma made a bean bake, that while not being to bad, is still far from paleo. She puts multiple different types of canned beans along with 1 can of baked beans(of which its problem ingredients are sugar and modified corn starch), then she puts bacon and ground beef in which is fine but she also adds moderate amounts of brown sugar and ketchup(which probably has sugar and other crap in it). So based on what she put in it would this have any negative effect on my health if I had it or any other cheat meal once every few weeks
I would not worry too much about the negative consequences of a cheat meal every few weeks. I would rather eat something unhealthy that my grandma cooks than to offend her by my picky eating. If it were ever couple of days or so, I might treat it differently, but it sounds like you eat quite pure most of the time.
Well, if I ate this I would be bloated and gassy from all of the beans, but it wouldn't be the end. If that's the only dish and no other options are around, make your granny happy. I personally would try to eat from the layer of beef and bacon : )
If you have to eat it, try taking a smaller portion. And if you had some, don't beat yourself up. Just try not to cheat often. I don't think it will completely setback your progress, but it would vary from person to person. Honestly, I'd break out in cysts all over my back if I ate something like that, but that's just me.
just depends if it affects your health or not. I would be in total pain after eating that so it wouldn't be good for me. if you don't get pains/reactions from eating non-paleo foods, then I would DEFINITELY cheat haha I hate having to follow this diet to gain weight. i'd rather just eat junk food all day long.
It's not that serious. >.> It's just every few weeks. You eat paleo mostly (assuming so) You're not going to die or get cancer from eating it. Bloating, Gas, stomach ache, headache.. all temporary.
