Female, ovwt, walking is my main but inconsistant exercise now but want to get back to cycling

I was up to 30 miles at my top but not losing weight as I would be so hungry I would eat too much after exercise.

My goal is to learn the balance of what I need to eat regularly and what I need to eat after a long (for me) ride.

@7 am 1 12 oz black tea wtih half and half 2

8:30 1 12 oz black tea wtih half and half 2

9am 1 herbal tea with whipping cream 1 oz 1whole egg 2 egg white omlet mushroom adn red onion in it 1 slice of bacon

4 pm 1 pork burger 1 tsp dijon mustard (i know, not paleo)

16 dry roasted almonds 8 cocoa 8 cinnamon

8pm 1 small sweet potato 1 tsp butter

today was the first day i have added sweet potato since starting 3 weeks ago. Today I have been expending alot of energy and actually forgot to eat lunch

I have a kale and spinach I need to make tomorrow to get more veg in my diet.

I have had ALOT of trouble with constipation. I have cut out all Almond Milk and almond butter as of today as I was drinking almond milk then later in the day having almond butter on a spoon and at dinner eating 8-10 almonds...whew...

Mag Citrate took 27 hours to work...yes I drank the whole bottle!

I do feel better but think I need to cut my tea consumtion to one 12 oz a day or 2 separate 8 oz.

Suggestions please :)

** red meat causes severe pain and backs me up for weeks. Even something small like pepperoni wiht some beef in it throws me off. i have been like this for 8 years. I eat any fish, chicken, pork prod and that is it. I have had colonoscopy and MRI. all is fine...however after reading Robb's book, it is probably an immunity issue.

EAT MORE. A LOT MORE.

952 Calories is too low. Ditch the "egg whites" eat the whole eggs. Eat red meat. I would add vegetables rather than take magnesium citrate. And make sure you are drinking enough water, that matters a lot with constipation.

  • Responding to edit: Okay, so you can't eat red meat, eat fish, eat more bacon, eat more eggs, just eat some more calorie dense food.

so you have a beef allergy? a 100% grass finished beef allergy or a conventional beef allergy? have you tried grass finished beef, bison, or venison, or any other red meat animal? when eating the beef before, you got constipated - was it lean or fatty? do you eat enough fat? enough magnesium? enough fermented foods?

ditch the pork, it's high in omega 6 (inflammatory) even if you do have a pastured source. Fish, pastured chicken, turkey would be better choices. Eat a LOT more veggies, at every meal. Ditto the above, eat the yolks, and also eat more food in general. I'd also cut out dairy for a while and see how your body responds. Coconut milk is a great sub in coffee and tea. After a long ride you want protein and carb rich veggies. A great post workout meal is egg whites and sweet potato. After a work out you don't want fat (any other time a day eat it up!) because it slows down digestion, and you want to digest all that good protein immediatly to rebuild your muscles. The yolks have fat, which is why you do egg whites post workout, but in the am you want the yolks.

after almost 8 years of no red meat, I am tiring of chicken...i eat it almost daily....are there better cuts of pork that would lessen the omega 6 issue....? – theresa Feb 3 2011 at 17:43

IT is SO painful and takes me so long to get regulated again that I am not willing to try any new beef until I get some of this weight off and have been on Paleo for a while. besides the pain, the extra weight from constipation, which i have had over the past 10 days has almost detered me from continuing but I know overall I feel better and dont think aout food all day!

At its worst, I was not sleeping and felt like I had a hot rock in my stomach if I slept over 4 -5 hours. I would be backed up for weeks. I never had a problem with beef until about 10 years ago and it was mild in the beginning adn I had no clue what was causing it. I went to the dr about 9 years ago and started looking for answers. Colonoscopy showed nothign, mri nothing. They told me i had IBS wtih C and to use miralax and to see if i could figure what my trigger/s were. Well I started eating super bland then one night i had taco meat..i thought it must be the spices...a few days later after my stomach was ok enough i tried spaghetti...again lots of pain. I could actually feel my BM's moving and pulling through my system, it was very very painful....after using the Miralax for a couple of months I felt better plus I was not eating beef anything...now i have to watch for even beef broth and pepperoni to see what has been included in them.
