I've been Paleo-ing for the last 8 months with some great results.

I am a creature of habit and have gotten used to making a steak (usually grass fed, or at a minimum anti biotic free and on vegetarian diet meats).

Should be I be concerned long term eating a steak a day? I also eat 3-4 pieces of farmers market nitrate free bacon in the morning.

Last night I had two ribeyes and a half a bone of marrow (how the heck do you describe a marrow portion size??)

Then this morning I had a ribeye for breakfast.

Just did my intro to Crossfit.

I have nothing scientific to contribute other than the fact that I feel AWESOME.

Thank you, red meat.

Red meat is good to eat until you are full. Then you should stop.

Seriously though, red meat is not associated with cancer and is healthier than non-ruminant meats because of a more favorable polyunsaturated fatty acid profile.

Have you read Kurt Harris's blog, PaNu?

There's no such thing as too much red meat.

This is one of the foods us humans have evolved with eating in abundance.

If you use fatty cuts of grass-fed meat, don't worry about it. It is possible to consume toxic amounts of lean protein, however.

Is this due to satiety being a factor? – Todd Feb 4 2011 at 23:04
Google rabbit starvation todd – Stephen-Aegis Feb 5 2011 at 1:59
Rabbit starvation is because of lean meat, it is of no relevance here. – majkinetor Sep 14 2011 at 18:17

How about iron overload??? I love red meat, but I recently read an article by Ray Peat mentioning how iron overload could be a precursor to many diseases, especially in men. I know donating blood can help, but I am not to fond of doing it often.

Unless you're supplementing and/or have a genetic predisposition, this is really unlikely. A periodic CBC would show the hemoglobin level and let you know if you are beyond the safe threshold of 18g/dl or whatever it is. – Travis Culp Feb 5 2011 at 0:57
Yeah, this is the only thing I could think of which could be a prob for some. For myself, I used to have anemia when I used to eat a low meat diet, so could be I would be less prone to excess iron problems. One thing nice about paleo is I now have great hemocrit levels and don't have to listen to the doc wagging his/her finger about any issues there. – Eva Feb 5 2011 at 5:43
It may be problem. But coffee or IP6 after red meet solves it. – majkinetor Sep 14 2011 at 18:18

The only things that my body has problems with and the list of things that are bad for you- only come from grains and industrial agriculture, not from red meat or animal products. I eat a lot of veggies, more than so-called vegetarians who load up on grains and junk food (watch them eat chips, crackers and cakes).

Many of my vegan/vegetarian friends have an angry disposition because they are always snacking on glutenous grains, nutrient empty carbs like rice and lots of soy lol. – justanotherhunt Feb 5 2011 at 3:29
That seems very common as a cursory glance over at 30 bananas a day will show. – Alan Feb 6 2011 at 8:15
