For some reason when I posted a couple of days ago about my muscles being too big after going paleo a few people commented that that was 'unlikely' and that they'd like a picture as to 'validate my claims'.
I have no idea why a bunch of people who are smart enough to know that everything we have previously been told about grains, and how healthy they are for you, was a load of bullshit...can't consider the fact that perhaps the old school 'women can't build muscle, they'll just get toned' is a load of crap as well? A lot of things we are told is crap...let's be a bit open minded and listen to what people are experiencing rather than spouting off information from a bunch of so called 'experts'.

Women CAN build upon and grow muscle obviously, but it takes doing so purposefully and in a caloric surplus. Of course you're going to have definition and/or size when you're actually flexing, as you are in the really miniature picture (try imgur, photobucket or something... you uploaded an avatar) but still, in my opinion your arms aren't "too big".
Or if you were overweight before, you'll have more base muscle than someone who has never gone over 115 lbs.
Women (and men) with higher testosterone and HGH levels will naturally build muscle faster and bigger than those that don't. I think your arms look fine. If you are wanting to excercise without the growth, or minimal growth, do lighter weight, but more reps. Do sets of 20-40 instead of 10 or so.
I realize that's a small pic and all, but my first reaction was "...that's hot."
Nobody is saying that women can't build muscle, just that it's really hard to get the bodybuilder look. You need the right combination of genes, training, and diet. I for example would love for my arms to look like that. I eat 2,000+ calories/day (so almost twice as much as you do) and train my arms specifically to build the muscles, and still do not have arms and shoulders that look like yours.
Maybe you just have the magic genes that allow you to put on muscle really fast (can we trade? Please?). It does happen.
I hope this doesn't sound condescending, but I think it might be possible that you're just self-conscious about your arms, so you're seeing them in a kind of distorted way and worrying about them more than you need to. Like the same way where if you have a zit it feels like everyone is looking at it all the time, even though they probably aren't. I definitely don't think you look unattractive.
Dang girl! Nice guns!! I started lifting about 6 months ago and have made HUGE gains! I think when you eat the right foods, men AND women maximize their testosterone (yes, girls, we too have testosterone!) which helps build large muscles. I doubt that you'll get much bigger tho without some "help". Personally, I think your arms look great, not too big for a woman.

Paleo diet plus poledancing and circus silks is all I do, I never use a gym (too boring!)... And generally unless I flex like I am in the picture here I don't actually look too freaky, I'm sure you're the same as me x
