can you define paleo or as you use it Paleo project? And define or suggest the Paleolithic diet clearly please.
For years I have been healing and trying to get through Inflammation of the stomach lining, years of constipation or digestive, as well as nutrient absorbancy issues, following years of medications, stress, and an intestinal parasite while in Africa?
After speaking to a nutritionist and dietician, she suggested more changes to my already strict and limited blood type A diet adding,
No gluten, no wheat, no acidic vegetables,(no tomatoes and peppers!) no fruits, hot peppers, no beef, pork, No cow dairy products or cheeses
I have embraced these healthy lifestyle changes,adhere to a mostly organic diet, and enjoy learning about and eating grains from around the world and loved the new veggies and all the great choices with goat milk products but still find it very challenging to order out at a restaurant, without insulting the chef, cook, or inconveniencing the not so interested twenty-something whose body hasn't started rejecting normal U.S mass produced food.
It is also a problem at times when I travel or do trips with others not so "sold" on the idea or who don't have health problems. Any suggestions?

Elyse, I suggest that you purchase and read two books:
They are both supposed to be easy to read and understand for the person who is new to the paleolithic diet.
Also, from PaNu, here is a clear and generally accepted understanding of the practicalities of the paleo diet:
1 Eliminate sugar (including fruit juices and sports drinks) and all flour
2 Start eating proper fats - Use healthy animal fats to substitute fat calories for carb calories. Drink whole cream or half and half instead of milk.
3 Eliminate grains
4 Eliminate grain and seed derived oils (cooking oils) Cook with butter, animal fats, or coconut oil.
5 Get daily midday sun or take 4-8000 iu vit D daily
6 Intermittent fasting and infrequent meals (2 meals a day is best)
7 Fruit is just a candy bar from a tree. Stick with berries and avoid watermelon which is pure fructose. Eat in moderation.
8 Eliminate legumes
9 Adjust your 6s and 3s. Pastured (grass fed) dairy and grass fed beef or bison avoids excess O-6 fatty acids and are better than supplementing with 0-3 supplements.
10 Proper exercise - emphasizing resistance and interval training over long aerobic sessions
11 Eliminate milk (if you are sensitive to it, move this up the list
12 Eliminate other dairy including cheese- (now you are "orthodox paleolithic")

I'd describe Paleo as an attempt to approximate optimal human diet and exercise patterns based on anthropological and paleontological evidence; in other words, trying to base what we eat and how we exercise on what we are.
Obviously, studying human evolution is extremely helpful on that last point, as are studies of hunter-gatherers, since agriculture is an 8-10,000 year blip compared to our 2,500,000-year prehistory of hunting and gathering.
I like J. Stanton's description of "how to eat like a predator, not prey.":
