My family is from Germany, and they're trying to find a quality fish oil. They found a bottle of Carlson's for €37 a bottle. Yikes! They would need 6 of these a month (it really helps my niece's asthma) but that's a little too pricey. Any suggestions? Any European Paleos out there that supplement with fish oil?

	shipments from iHerb never get checked or opened by the swiss customs because they know there's nothing illegal in it (as they seem to trust iherb). i suspect it's the same with german customs. it says "nutritional supplements for personal use" incl. the value in $ on the package. never had any problems with it :) – qualia Feb 8 2011 at 18:16

I would recommend getting anything shipped to yourself and then shipping a 'gift' to them. It may cost a little extra in shipping - but customs is generally not as hard on personal mail as they are on commercial parcels. Plus most of the online places ship reasonably to the US.

I haven't tried this to Germany - but we live in Canada and my mother in law lives in the States and does this for us all the time (as Canadian customs can sometimes be sticky)

I take two/day which means 1g of EPH and DHA combined, so one bottle lasts for 2 months which means 10 Euro/month.

I'm not into those crazy high fish oil amounts some people take, better to reduce all the dietary 6s

You need alot less if you're getting the natural triglyceride form Instead of ethyl ester form.

I still just recommend eating more fish and grassfed beef and less omega6 foods rather than spending copious amounts of money on oil.

you get cod liver oil alias "lebertran" in germany. And in stores they have fishoil in capsules. This are with vitamin E and high technologie.
