So I have been doing paleo for about a month now, but I make a few exceptions: my workout supplements. I am currently using a cycle of N.O. Explode: Black Powder for a pre-workout, but I'm looking for something more natural to replace it with.
Anyone use any pre-workout supplement for energy and harder lifts?
i use purple wrath as well. The beta alanine in it helps, which most bcaa supplements dont have. Creatine is helpful but can also lead to hair loss (im serious, look it up) which is why I avoid it. Caffeine is probably the best pre workout supplement in my opinion. There are drinks out there geared towards working out.. ive heard good things about biotest preworkout surge.. but coffee works for me
Caffeine, BCAAs, sniffing smelling salts, a scoop of whey, or some coconut oil for MCTs.
A hard slap can do wonders too.
Imagine Grok in pain and fighting for his life - workouts should be this intense.
Pre workout: Water and a little caffeine. Train hard fully fasted for Autophagy.
Post workout when you body has cooled down, then feast on whole foods.
BCAA's impede Autophagy.
Creatine is better post workout with your feast if you're taking it.
Edited to represent a better understanding of impact On autophagy. Recovery remains great with post workout feasts, no supplements.

I read about that NO Explode stuff. Looks scary to me. You're putting some potent s**t into your body, and I'm not sure anyone understands what it's doing.
I have had some success with pure creatine monohydrate (in liquid form). It's natural, your body produces it, and it gives a little extra "oomph" on those tough workouts, and heavy lifts. Somewhat kidding, but somewhat serious here. Just the thought of using products named as absurdly as these are makes me wonder "WTF?". Trust me, I've taken protein powders, creatine and other supplements before (am currently trying BCAAs for the first time) but anything with an ingredient list that looks like a page out of an encyclodepia cannot be all that "good" for a person.
Before I went Paleo I used to use NO-SHOTGUN...which I guess worked quite well but really I am sure this was mostly down to the stimulants it contains.
I mostly workout fasted now, sometimes after a cup of coffee and rarely I will have a tablespoon of coconut oil. Of course I drink water throughout my workout. I love the feeling of being 'light'. The idea of chugging down a bunch of chemicals makes me feel nauseous now, and artificial sweeteners taste really bad to me.
It was mentioned in one of the posts about what to do PWO that unless you are an elite athlete or bodybuilder, the differences are probably very minor. Of course I can understand the need for a 'kick' before you work out (I exercise in the morning, usually very early so this is a familiar thing for me too) - but a cup of coffee solves this.
You could try a cup of coffee with a tablespoon of coconut oil / MCT oil? I have mixed the two in the past and got a good buzz. Either that or perhaps something like pemmican if you have access to it?
I take rhodiola 110 and endurance cubes to energize my workouts...more natural stuff than what you would find at vitamin world or GNC
Granted I'm only 6 workouts in with it but I've shifted from 3 hardboiled eggs 2 hours PreWO to totally fasted with 4 scoops of Xtend. Its got fakesugar but its a self experiment to see if i can rock the sixpack before summer gets us.
PostWO one to 1.5 pounds baked sweet potato and about 12 ounces roast beef.
The workout im referring to is starting strength heavy resistance training.
