Didn't we just do this a couple weeks ago? – ScottMGS Feb 17 2011 at 6:14

Yes, and he didn't say Bacon so it's already invalid. – Stephen-Aegis Feb 17 2011 at 11:38
yah i was torn on the bacon. but since i already had beef, eggs, and salmon i didn't wanna choose another meat. and i don't know anything about a couple weeks ago. i just found paleohacks 3 days ago. – Jack Kronk Feb 17 2011 at 15:13
In the future, please search the questions before posting a new one. – gilliebean Feb 17 2011 at 16:48
search all questions on the entire forum before posting one? i made this scenario up in my head. i definitely would not think anyone else has come up with the same thing. it's not i signed up and immediately asked "Is Dairy Considered Paleo?". – Jack Kronk Feb 17 2011 at 17:32

Wow, only 7? That's hard.

1) Lamb - I may have said beef but I just had some lamb for the first time in a while the other day and WOW it was delicious

2) Salmon

3) Chickens/roosters - I'll raise them for their meat and eggs, haha!

4) Raw milk

5) Broocoli

6) Kale

7) Wow, this is rough. I'll need to throw something sweet in there, too.

props to you on #3! – texasleah Feb 16 2011 at 19:59

except #3 is cheating. i said food, not animals. otherwise i would have chosen endless cows instead of beef and raw milk. – Jack Kronk Feb 16 2011 at 20:29

Lamb for the win. But if you can get anything, throw in some exotics like seal, springbok, kangaroo, ... – sean Feb 16 2011 at 21:11
that is hilarious sean. 7 total choices. can you imagine choosing springbok... kangaroo? lol. – Jack Kronk Feb 16 2011 at 21:26

I'm realizing that I'm so boring that the environment would be the only thing that would change. I'll take the probable paradisiacal weather over what we have here though.

Beef, Tallow, Ghee, squash and Sweet Potatoes are my main ingredients at home. But i'm not sure if i'd eat it on a tropical island :D

This is tough!

OK:

1) Bacon

2) Green Beans

3) Beef

4) Yams

5) Salmon

6) Tuna

7) Spinach

no eggs? and no milk? you know that raw milk = cheese, cream, butter... a veritable three for one. just wanted to throw that out there for ya. – Jack Kronk Feb 16 2011 at 21:02

I have a dairy and egg allergy. I don't want to die on the island :-) – Ben Feb 16 2011 at 21:51
ok you win that one :) and very sorry to hear about that. – Jack Kronk Feb 16 2011 at 22:18

From grass-fed cattle: 1) beef 2) tallow 3) butter

4) Eggs from truly pastured/free-range chickens (not the so-called "free-range" chickens of today). 5) Sea salt 6) Macadamia nuts 7) Bacon

dang. macadamia nuts. with that, you could eat them whole, make nut butter, squeeze them for oil. and all without worrying about the price. brilliant play right there. – Jack Kronk Feb 16 2011 at 21:22
I assume the sea salt would be a gimme. – TedB Feb 16 2011 at 22:30
Acquiring sea salt is not necessarily a "gimme." It takes a while to evaporate enough sea water for a single dose, whatever one's definition of a "dose" is. – Phocion_Timon Feb 17 2011 at 14:32

  1. Beef
  2. Eggs
  3. Raw milk
  4. Raspberries
  5. Bacon
  6. Broccoli
  7. Raw honey
link|flag
very similar to mine. raspberries replaced blueberries. bacon replaced salmon. broccoli replaced potatoes. good job on getting a green in there. – Jack Kronk Feb 16 2011 at 21:24
Yeah I just like raspberries better, and I'm not a fish fan. Hubby probably would've went for the salmon. I was torn between bacon and cauliflower, believe it or not. And broccoli vs brussels sprouts, tough call. – stephthegeek Feb 17 2011 at 4:41

  1. Grassfed beef. If I have to be specific on a cut, well-marbled short ribs.
  2. Sweet potatoes.
  3. Salted Kerrygold butter.
  4. Pastured eggs.
  5. Macadamia nuts.
  6. Blood oranges.
  7. Green & Black's 85% organic chocolate.

The last three are pretty much for my sanity. Since I'll be alone on that island, my macs, oranges, and chocolate will make for good perfunctory company. I probably won't name them "Wilson", though. :)

+1 for the Green & Black's 85%.... best. dark. chocolate. evar. I was torn between exactly that and the honey, but I figured the honey would be more versatile. – stephthegeek Feb 17 2011 at 4:42

Blood oranges are a good addition -- anthocyanans + vit C. – Jay Feb 17 2011 at 19:08

  1. Pork

  2. Lamb

  3. Eggs

  4. Coconuts

  5. Sweet potatoes

  6. Asparagus

  7. Spinach

These all seem versatile enough to keep me in unique meals forever.

  1. Deer (the only meat that you can eat everyday and not get sick of)
  2. Vinegar (allows me to store some items and also is refreshing)
  3. Pigs (bacon,etc)
  4. Chickens (eggs and meat)
  5. Grapes (for wine and sweet desert)
  6. Olives (olive oil and could cure them into something amazing)
  7. Almonds (YUM!)

  1. Rib-eyes from pastured cattle. I could live on that cut for life.
  2. Pastured eggs
  3. Raw milk cheeses
  4. Fatty pork chops
  5. Pastured Heavy cream/buttah
  6. Red wine
  7. Coconuts (gotta have some kind of veg right?)
2

  1. Grass fed beef (I'm assuming we get all cuts?)
  2. Pastured eggs
  3. Raw milk. I would skim it for cream and drink it straight. Could also make butter.
  4. Potatoes
  5. Raspberries
  6. G and B 85%
  7. Macadamias

And I will boil the water for sea salt :).

Onions are the substitution if any of these items are unavailable

i like your last 2 statements. well played :) – Jack Kronk Feb 17 2011 at 2:51
Salt! Yeah I was thinking of that too... good call – stephthegeek Feb 17 2011 at 4:42

Lamb, Beef, Eggs, Coconut oil, 100% cacao, Cauliflower, Macadamia nuts

1: Cashews 2: 88% dark cacao 3: Mangoes 4: Bacon 5: Ground lamb 6: Cauliflower 7: Twix (hey, if I'm stranded, I'm fine with getting fat -- I'm there to impress anyone and I'm down with the suicide, so I'm going to eat like a pig, get fat, then die naturally).

i never said you definitely would not be rescued. besides what if you discover a beautiful woman is also stranded there. you just never know man. – Jack Kronk Feb 17 2011 at 15:16
Further to that, she finds you unfit for procreation, due to the twix. Tisk... – Todd Feb 17 2011 at 16:50

  • Grass Fed Cow. (if 1 cut, Chateau-Briand)

  • Raw Grassfed Dairy. (if one type: Butter)

  • Okinowan Sweet Potatoes.

  • Organic Baby Spinach.

  • Wild Boar. (if one cut, Thicksliced Bacon)

  • Garlic. yes I put Garlic in or on everything.

  • A Good South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon

Its already the Basics of my diet now. I wouldnt complain a day with the above. However if we limited it to specific cuts overall, id have to use a slot for Liver, just for Nutritions sake. Probably give up the Spinach or Tubers for it.

If there was little possibility of rescue, I'd want the following items:

Cheetos, Almond M&Ms, chocolate ice cream, strawberry Pocky, bologna sandwiches on white bread with lots of mayo, spicy pork tamales and french fries.

That's because I'd really, really hate being stuck on an island and would not want a very long life...

love it. i gave you a vote up for this. what is strawberry Pocky? – Jack Kronk Feb 17 2011 at 19:00
They are like cracker sticks with a creamy candy coating. Lots of sugar, artificial flavoring and hydrogenated fats. amazon.com/Glico-Strawberry-Pocky-Value-Pack/dp/… – Michelle Feb 17 2011 at 19:23

7 seems like a lot to me. i dont think there was really that much variety in aHG diet during any one season or geographic location.

1) a red meat ruminant (bison, cow, sheep, deer etc) bonus if that animal produces raw milk

2) some kind of starch tuber

3) sea salt/edible clay

4) some kind of wild edible green (miner's lettuce, lambsquarter)

1

  • Strip Steaks
  • Mac Nuts
  • Really old, hard cheese (screw salt)
  • Cream, the stuff so thick it sticks to the spoon
  • Bacon
  • Thyme
  • Oysters

I've learned thyme is delicious with everything, so it deserves it's own spot.

Well this might be cheating but

Billy Goat - Breeding, and meat

Nanny Goat - Breeding, dairy (primal), and meat

Rooster - Meat and Breeding

Hen - Breeding, meat, and eggs.

Bag of the best fish I can find whatever it may be (Salmon, tuna, sardines, cod, bass, pike, etc.) And hope there are both male and female in that bag - Breeding and meat (Omega 3)

Survival Seed Bank Canister - Carbs, and vitamins.

Fertilized Queen Been - Pollination, and the rare treat.

No room left but if that seed bank came with seeds for olive trees in 30 years I'd be rolling in olive oil :)

That's what I'd take. I might have to forego the meat for a while until the animals are need. Just eggs.... Might need someone with their 7 to come along with me or I might get hungry and start nibbling at my goat's leg.... Or would sheep or beef be better?
