What is your morning routine? Does it involve paleo components?
And...do you get enough sleep to do get a good routine going?
As soon as I realized that looking at a computer screen at night disturbs my sleep like nothing else I also realized that looking at one in the morning will wake me the heck up. So I usually reach for the laptop first thing on waking up -- and, yes, that usually includes looking at paleohacks.
I think that the most important Paleo part of my morning routine is having made sure I got enough sleep the night before. Second would be eating something Paleo for breakfast.
Ideally I'd like to be waking up in a yurt somewhere very scenic and having venison jerky before breakfast but before going out hunting or fishing, but that's just plain not compatible with remaining employed at my current job, or, for that matter, married.
I wake up naturally. I found in college that I did not require an alarm clock. My brain knows what time it is and wakes me up in time for whatever I need to do that day. I always leave the blinds open so that the sunlight helps encourage me to wake. I eat a few bites of fruit, meat, or cheese while surfing the net. Brush teeth, take shower and all that boring stuff, then off to work. It really hasn't changed much since paleo except that I snack on different foods and I naturally wake up earlier which leaves more time for net surfing.
One advantage of being older is that I no longer work. Therefore, I go to sleep when I get sleepy and I wake up as it gets light.
My morning routine is my personal ideal--I walk my 3 toy dogs, manage my water kefir hobby (each morning I have to start a new fermentation and bottle yesterday's for a secondary one), chop up raw meat for the pets and dish that out, THEN I sit and watch Mike & Mike in the Morning while sipping coffee that includes heavy cream and unprocessed honey. The Mikes provide plenty of chuckles.
Now I ask you, how much better could a morning be? :-))
Mine hasn't changed much since going paleo, other than now I sometimes skip breakfast and my coffee has coconut milk or heavy cream in it... On work days it's still same - stumbling drunk-like to the bathroom, being slightly more awake after a shower, coffee and optional breakfast while checking email/net, dress up and walk to work.
on no work days showers goes much further down the line, coffee gets the priority and often it's a book instead of computer.
I used to think that I had to eat before I worked out. Now I realize that I can go for a fasted workout and it's a good thing! Yay!
Also, I do the indigenous peoples stretch (a la Mark Sisson) as soon as I wake up. I feel like it relaxes and engages all my major muscle groups.
Whether or not it's Crossfit day, I eat a little lean protein, or a small mainly protein breakfast, such as chicken breakfast sausage & eggs, or leftover meat. I HATE to eat before working out, but if I don't I run out of gas before the workout ends.
Part of what I actively do to hack my day, and my productivity, is reduce my screen time. It's easy for me to distract myself on my phone or on the computer, so I avoid getting on unless I know what I want to accomplish.
This is a challenge in the morning because I would use my phone to check the weather and my calendar, but end up sidetracked on social media. I actually found a free alarm clock app recently that will read me the weather while it wakes me up. It's a bit like Jarvis from Iron Man, except the voice is female.
