I kept reading how great coconut butter is, so I ordered a jar of Wilderness Family Naturals. It's definitely tasty, but I find the texture to be really gritty. Maybe coconut butter just isn't for me, but I'm considering trying Artisana; before making the investment, I'm wondering if anyone has tried both and prefers one over the other?

I find all these brands to be similar, and the grit factor seems to decrease with temperature. In my experience, any brand of coconut butter is smoother and more scoopable during warmer months. Also possibly of interest, The Clothes Make The Girl posted her recipe for coconut butter here: http://theclothesmakethegirl.blogspot.com/2011/02/homemade-coconut-butter-f-yeah.html - it is definitely cheaper, and you can probably alter the ratio of coconut oil to coconut for a smoother consistency. |

I actually like the brand by Nutiva. I find it very smooth and creamy and delicious. https://store.nutiva.com/coconut-manna/ It's also much more cheaper than Artisana, I think (definite motivating factor for me when making a purchase). That said, I haven't tried either of the brands you've mentioned, and my only other experience eating coconut butter is making my own, which IS gritty, so anything would seem smooth and creamy and delicious in comparison. :) |

I've tried both, and prefer Artisana by far. Coconut Manna was much grittier for me. The price was about the same for me too... I've also tried making my own but mine never 'butter'ified, so it was quite gritty... |
